Chapter 367
Chapter 367
An hour later.
Jupiton Police Department.
After being questioned, Joshua and Xylia were let go, but Noelle ended up being held in custody.
Apparently, her detention wasn’t about what happened today–it was connected to some smuggling case.
The police didn’t tell Xylia what exactly was going on.
Xylia didn’t press for more details.
What I’m really concerned about is Jasper, the guy who was at the villa, Xylia thought to herself.
There was only one road from the suburban villa to the city, but the police said they hadn’t seen any cars on it.
That meant Jasper and his crew hadn’t headed toward the city.

With kidnapping and brawling in the mix, the police said they’d keep Xylia and Joshua in the loop and make sure they got
inswers.
As soon as things were wrapped up, Xylia didn’t hesitate–she rushed Joshua straight to the hospital.
After a series of tests, the doctor looked concerned.
No new injuries, but you should still take it easy and keep your exercise light for now,” the doctor said.
Xylia finally let out a sigh of relief.
osie called to check in, and Xylia reassured her that everything was fine. They set a time to meet up later, and only then did Xylia finally take Joshua home.
On the way home, Xylia leaned back with her eyes closed, zoning out, not bothering with Joshua at all.
Joshua kept trying to say something, but the timing was never right.
Once they got home, Xylia just picked up Nina and went off to play with her, not paying Joshua any mind whatsoever.
Joshua’s chest felt tight and tangled with guilt and regret. He knew he was the one at fault for hiding things from Xylia this morning.
He wanted to explain, but no matter what he said, it would just sound empty.
He stood there, quietly watching Xylia and Nina together, not saying a word. Finally, he let out a heavy sigh and trudged upstairs, his steps weighed down by guilt.
Eliza glanced at Joshua, who looked really down, then turned to Xylia.
“Did you two have a fight?” she asked.
Xylia shook her head.
“Just a little disagreement. It’ll blow over soon, Mom. Don’t worry,” she said.

Eliza smiled and played with her little granddaughter.

“If Joshua’s got you upset, he must’ve really messed up this time. You should let him stew for a bit–otherwise, he’ll never figure out who’s actually in charge around here,” Eliza teased.
Xylia smiled in amusement at Eliza’s words, but didn’t say anything.
Then, as if something had just occurred to her, Eliza suddenly looked at Xylia with a serious expression.
I’ve already designed the invitations for Nina’s hundred–day celebration, but you guys still need to decide who to invite. oshua’s kind of out of it right now, so you’ll probably have to take charge of things,” Eliza said.
Xylia nodded. “Guess I’ll have to leave the Garcia family relatives to you and Dad.”
Of course,” Eliza replied.
Kylia sighed in resignation.
Honestly, I wasn’t planning on making it such a big event, but Joshua insisted on throwing a huge party. Looks like it’s going o be a few exhausting days,” she said.
Eliza laughed.
Just let him handle all the tough stuff and don’t stress about it. That’s just Joshua–whenever he cares about something, he can’t help but show it off to everyone. Trust me, if he wasn’t dealing with memory loss right now, he’d probably make it even rander,” she said.
Kylia totally agreed–moms always know their sons best.
Kylia and Eliza spent some time chatting together in the living room.
After his shower, Joshua stepped out onto the balcony, gazing into the distance and zoning out.
Not everything Noelle said today was a lie.
When she mentioned her brother’s death, Joshua could see she was telling the truth.
Jus, Eliza always skirted around the topic of Noelle’s brother, which clearly had something to do with Joshua himself.
o chances were, Nelson really did die for him.
f that was really the case, then Joshua knew he should be looking out for Noelle and making sure she was safe.
He kept replaying everything that had happened that morning in his mind.
ncluding Jasper–he couldn’t help but think about him, too.
But the more he thought about it, the more his mind started to drift.
He couldn’t get Xylia’s cold attitude out of his head–she was shutting him out, refusing to even talk to him.
Was it because I snuck out to see Noelle this morning and kept it from her?‘ Joshua wondered.
Is that why she’s pissed? Did I let her down?‘ he thought, his chest tightening with dread.
Is she done with me?‘ he couldn’t help but worry.

Each thought made his heart race with anxiety.
Eventually, Joshua was so anxious that cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
‘No way! Joshua thought, panic surging inside him.
‘First things first–I need to cheer up my wife!‘ he told himself.

He turned away from the balcony, ready to leave, but paused for a moment and went back to the bedroom. He picked up a toy he’d specially gotten for Nina, then headed downstairs.
Eliza had gone to the kitchen to help Mrs. Liu get lunch ready.
Xylia was holding Nina, coaxing her gently.
Little babies spent most of their days sleeping.
Nina had just been playing with her mom, and now Xylia had already coaxed her to sleep again.
Joshua quietly approached, his expression gentle and full of warmth as he gazed at Nina, who was fast asleep in Xylia’s arms.
‘Is Nina asleep?” he asked in a gentle voice.
Xylia had sensed Joshua’s approach, but when he spoke, she answered in a distant manner.
Yes, she’s asleep. I’m taking her upstairs now,” she said.
Joshua jumped in, acting all eager to please. “Let me take over. You’ve been holding her for ages–your arms must be tired. Go ahead and rest for a bit.”
Xylia didn’t object and handed Nina over to her dad.
Joshua took the opportunity to hand Nina’s plush toy to Xylia.
I was planning to give this to Nina, but she nodded off. Looks like it’s yours now,” he said,
His voice was soft, and while he still had that refined vibe, there was a touch of playful flattery in his tone.
Xylia just stood there, holding the plush bunny absentmindedly. When she looked up, Joshua was already disappearing upstairs with Nina in his arms.
He rushed up the stairs like he was running away from something.
Xylia spotted the tips of Joshua’s ears turning red and couldn’t help but chuckle quietly, squeezing the plush rabbit in her
hand.
‘He can’t even apologize properly. So childish; Xylia muttered to herself.
