The next morning, David walked in with huge dark circles under his eyes, clutching the investigation files on Kieran.
He handed the report to Joshua, exhaustion written all over his face.
Joshua glanced at David with his usual calm indifference, took the papers, and said, “Go and claim this month’s bonus yourself.”
“Go and claim this month’s bonus yourself.”
David’s eyes filled with tears–he was so grateful he nearly kowtowed right then and there in front of Joshua.
Kieran’s background was straight–up legit.
His mom was born into a rich family in Jupiton, and his dad was a big shot from Manedom.
As a mixed kid, he grew up bouncing back and forth between Jupiton and Manedom, picking up both languages and getting a deep feel for both cultures.
His resume? Off the charts. The guy’s a finance whiz–took over the company while he was still young, and in just two years, took the business global.
Not only did he crush it overseas, but his mom’s side also hooked him up with some prime real estate in Jupiton.
Honestly, Kieran was one in a million.
As Joshua kept reading, his frown deepened.
David asked, “Mr. Garcia, is something wrong?”
Joshua put the papers aside and asked David directly.
‘Nothing about Kieran’s social circle?” Joshua asked.
David hesitated, looking troubled.
‘His social network is massive…”
“Forget the usual business connections. I want the ones he’s actually close to, Get me that list today,” Joshua said, his voice cold.
Joshua glanced at David’s dark circles and said calmly, “Double the bonus.”
David, who’d been dragging his feet a moment ago, instantly lit up at those words.
“No problem!” he replied, practically bouncing with energy.
‘Only an idiot would turn down easy money, David thought to himself
‘Sleep? Who needs it when there’s cash on the table?‘ he mused.
David hurried out,
Joshua got called in by the cops and headed over to the station for questioning.

Chapter 369
Turns out, it was about that smuggling thing Noelle was mixed up in not long ago.
This all happened back when Richard was still in Jupiton.
Joshua didn’t know anything about it, so he told the cops he couldn’t help.
Since they couldn’t get anything useful out of him, the cops just let him go.
Just before he left, Joshua asked the cops, “Can I see her? I can get her to talk.”

The officers exchanged glances, then checked with their boss. After getting the go–ahead, they let Joshua see Noelle.
Noelle looked absolutely wrecked–her clothes hung off her like a scarecrow, her body nothing but skin and bones.
The moment she saw Joshua, her whole demeanor changed. She went from totally defeated to her eyes lighting up like she’d just been rescued from the edge.
She tried to rush over to him, but the cops held her back.
The handcuffs clanked with every move she made, making a racket.
“Joshua, you finally came to save me! I know I messed up before, please forgive me, okay? I swear I won’t cling to you anymore—just get me out of here!” Noelle pleaded, her voice cracking with desperation.
“My brother saved your life once–you can’t just leave me hanging now!” she blurted out, sobbing.
Noelle was crying and rambling at the same time, totally losing it.
Joshua frowned, realizing something was really wrong with her.
‘Looks like she’s having some kind of mental breakdown,‘ Joshua thought.
“Quiet!” one of the cops barked, and Noelle finally quieted down.
Once the cops left, Joshua turned to Noelle, who was sitting across from him.
“I can get you out of here, but you need to tell me everything. There’s no one else here–you can say whatever you want,” Joshua said, his voice calm but firm.
Noelle clung to his words like they were her last lifeline.
She glanced around to make sure no one else was there, then started to speak, her voice barely above a whisper.
Her eyes were glazed over, like she was just talking to stay alive, not really aware of what was coming out of her mouth.
She didn’t even stop to think that every word she said could be used against her.
Any other time, there’s no way she’d ever feel safe just because there weren’t any cameras.
But Joshua was here.
Joshua was the only one she could count on in this messed–up world.
Her brother had saved his life–there was no way Joshua would let anything happen to her.
To her, Joshua was her last hope, her only lifeline.

Joshua, though, was all ice–no mercy at all.
The more Noelle talked about her deal with Richard, the colder Joshua’s expression got.
When Noelle finally finished talking, Joshua stood up and walked out.
Noelle saw him leaving, and as the cops came back in, she jumped up, trying to block his way.
“Joshua, don’t go! Aren’t you taking me with you?” she cried out, her voice full of desperation.
Joshua didn’t even spare her a glance.

That was when she finally realized something was off. She freaked out and tried to run for it, but the cops pinned her down.
Joshua! Joshua Garcia! You can’t just leave me! You owe me your life–don’t you dare walk away!” Noelle screamed, her voice raw with desperation.
But all she got was the sound of the door slamming shut behind him.
She’d spend the rest of her days stuck in that strict, cold prison, with nothing but iron bars and endless rules for company.

osie invited Xylia to grab a meal together.
Finally, the two sisters could sit down and enjoy a proper meal together.
As they chatted, Josie couldn’t help but ask again if Xylia wanted to keep working as a designer.
Xylia shook her head, her answer firm.
All I want now is to just stay home,” Xylia said.
So you’re really going back to being a housewife?” Josie asked, her voice sharper than usual.
She was clearly annoyed, like the whole housewife thing was something she just couldn’t accept.
There was a hint of contempt in her tone that made Xylia frown.
Why does Josie seem so worked up about this?‘ Xylia wondered.
And why does she seem so desperate for me to go back to being a designer?‘
Xylia met Josie’s gaze, determination in her eyes.
“Josie, I really appreciate all the help and faith you’ve given me, but I’ve found something even more important to me now -so I’m going to let you down,” Xylia said.
“Say I’m lovesick, say I’m not ambitious–whatever. I just don’t want to lose the person I love ever again,” she added, her
voice soft but firm.
She meant Joshua.
Back then, she was all about work, and it was Joshua who sacrificed his own time just to be with her,
Now that Joshua had lost his memory, she needed to be there for him even more.
