Penny was still just a baby, but she was bursting with energy.
She’d sleep through the day, but as soon as night fell, she’d get all fussy and active.

She’d stare at you with those big, innocent eyes, and just as you closed your eyes to finally get some sleep, she’d let out a loud wail.
Penny was still too little to be apart from her mom, so Xylia was the one looking after her these days.
She’d be up all night with Penny, and during the day, she’d still insist on bringing Joshua his lunch.
After days of this, she finally hit her limit.
One day, while she was in Joshua’s office watching him eat, she curled up on the couch and drifted off to sleep.
Seeing this, Joshua put down his fork, picked her up, and carried her into the lounge.
They’d been sharing a bed for so long, but there still hadn’t been any real physical intimacy between them.
Whenever Joshua tried to get close, Xylia would instantly get up to take care of Penny.
Penny would always start crying in the middle of the night.
Because of this, Xylia even considered moving out of the master bedroom, afraid she’d keep Joshua up at night.
But Joshua, with a stern face, insisted she stay.
He got to be a dad without any of the hard work, and honestly, he had this love–hate thing going on with his daughter.
Every night, he’d be so fed up he almost wanted to just toss her out the window.
Right now, Xylia felt so soft and warm in his arms, so tiny and light, like she might shatter if he squeezed her too hard.
She was like some priceless gem–so delicate, he almost didn’t dare hold her too close.
Joshua just couldn’t get enough of holding Xylia like this.
When he laid Xylia down on the bed in the lounge, Joshua caught sight of the dark circles under her eyes. His heart ached for her as he gently ran his thumb along her eye.
He really needed to get someone to help take care of Penny.
It’s not like he has to be the one looking after the baby all the time.
There’s no way he could let Xylia run herself ragged like this.
He looked at Xylia, who was fast asleep, tilting his head, lost in thought for a moment.
Then he took off his jacket and slipped under the covers beside her.
As he gently pulled her into his arms, a wave of pure contentment washed over him.
Xylia felt so soft in his arms, and her scent was sweet and soothing.

He wrapped his arms around her waist, buried his face in the crook of her neck, and, lulled by her comforting scent, slowly drifted off to sleep.
In his dream, Joshua felt like he was floating, his thoughts all hazy and scattered.
He was lost in a blindingly white void, no clue where he was or which way to go.
He felt a wave of panic, totally lost and helpless, but he forced himself to stay cool–he’d always been good at keeping his head.
Suddenly, he heard a crisp, familiar female voice right next to him.
“Sure, I saved you, but that doesn’t mean you get to crash at my place for free. Do some chores for me and I’ll let you stay,” she said.
Yeah, that was Xylia talking.
Joshua followed the sound, and as the mist faded away, he could finally make out Xylia’s silhouette coming into focus.
He realized he was inside a fancy, European–style house. In the living room, Xylia was standing with her back to him.
On the couch in front of her sat a guy with striking silver hair, his head wrapped in two bandages, and his clothes still smeared with blood.
The man was watching Xylia closely, his expression wary and guarded.
“Don’t give me that look. I’m not letting you stay because I feel sorry for you,” Xylia said.
And with that, she spun around and walked off.
He just stared at her back, lost in his own thoughts as she walked away.
Joshua watched in disbelief, his eyes wide with shock at what was unfolding before him.
That woman was Xylia.
And the silver–haired man sitting on the couch–wasn’t that him?
What’s going on here?‘ Joshua thought, completely confused.
‘Am I dreaming about Xylia?‘ he wondered, trying to wrap his head around it.
‘But why does it all feel so real?‘ he thought, the emotions hitting him like a ton of bricks.
‘Is this… a memory from my past?‘ he wondered, his mind racing.
He broke into a run toward Xylia, but the white mist rolled in, wrapping around him and cutting him off
Joshua felt like he couldn’t breathe, panic rising as he tried to reach the truth, but no matter how hard he pushed, he just couldn’t break through those thick layers of mist.
Joshua jolted awake from his nap in the lounge, his heart pounding.
Xylia was still sound asleep in his arms, completely oblivious to his sudden awakening.
He looked down at her, his brow furrowed, his eyes clouded with worry that just wouldn’t go away.

Chapter 370
‘Was that really us from back then?‘ Joshua wondered, his mind spinning.
Why the hell was I covered in blood?‘ he thought, a knot of confusion and worry tightening in his chest.

And why wasn’t Xylia even a little bit afraid of me?‘ he wondered, still trying to make sense of it all.
There was a soft knock at the lounge door.
Joshua looked at Xylia, still sleeping soundly in his arms. Moving carefully, he slipped his arm out from under her, tucked the blanket around her, and tiptoed out of the lounge.
“Mr. Garcia, you still haven’t finished your lunch. Should I heat it up for you, or just clear it away?” David asked, always the picture of professionalism.
David asked, always the picture of professionalism.
Joshua glanced at his watch and realized it was already two in the afternoon.
It was already time to get back to work.
He asked David to tidy up the desk, then took his seat and started going through the files David had brought over.
These weren’t company documents.
They were the files Joshua had previously asked David to look into–details about Dustin’s social connections.
David had already found some leads, and the first person Joshua noticed was a woman named Josie Dunn.
Josie was close with Xylia.
Now, she was in Jupiton too, staying at the same hotel as Dustin.
Joshua just couldn’t buy the idea that they were both staying at the same hotel and didn’t even know it.
Josie and Xylia had met up a couple of times, and every time they did, Xylia would come home looking down in the dumps.
So, Joshua never really liked Josie.
But since Josie knew Dustin, did that mean she was aware of all his plans in Jupiton?
If that was true, then Josie’s target was Xylia.
Joshua’s face instantly hardened at the thought.
If that really was the case, then Joshua figured he’d have to kick those two out of Jupiton and send them back where they
came from.
When David came back in, Joshua handed him another task.
David stared at Joshua like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
