His words were delivered in a perfectly calm tone, but to Raelynn, they grated on her ears.
She had no energy left to decipher his hidden meanings. She knew exactly what this was. It wasn't a husband looking out for his wife; it was a billionaire making a transaction. A simple exchange of chips.
Raelynn had never felt so painfully clear-headed. Ignoring his mocking question, she got straight to business. "Since we're laying everything out, we need to keep the paperwork clean. An antique of this value could easily cause massive legal disputes down the line. I want you to draft a written agreement legally transferring full ownership to me."
Reclaiming her mother's centerpiece had been practically impossible. She was a cautious person by nature and refused to leave any loopholes for him to exploit.
Besides, she had already handed him the divorce papers at the hospital. The end of their marriage was imminent. Since he was throwing millions of dollars at her as hush money for his infidelity, she was going to make sure she kept every last dime of it.
Sebastian didn't argue. "Fine. I'll have the legal team draft the papers."
"Deal. When can I get them?" Raelynn let out a massive sigh of relief, a genuine smile finally breaking across her pale face.
As long as her family's legacy was safe, she didn't care. If he needed her to play the loving wife and cover up his romantic getaways with Seraphina, she would gladly do it for this price.
"Wait for me at home."
Raelynn frowned instantly.
Home? They were on the brink of divorce, and he wanted her to go back to the marital house?
"Can we..." she started, wanting to suggest a neutral location.
But before she could finish, Sebastian abruptly cut the line, completely silencing her.
He hung up on her the exact same way he would dismiss a subordinate—dictatorial, cold, and utterly devoid of emotion.
Raelynn was more than used to it by now; her expression didn't even flinch. But she had to get that legal document to secure The Twin Bloom Vessel.
"...Keep acting like a pufferfish and see what you get."
Chloe instantly lunged at her, laughing. "Oh, so you get rich and suddenly you're cheap?!"
Raelynn dodged with a laugh, her mood noticeably lighter. No matter what twisted logic Sebastian used to justify spending millions to buy back her family's legacy, it had solved her biggest nightmare. What was left to complain about?

After carefully transporting The Twin Bloom Vessel to her rented apartment, Raelynn took Chloe out for her promised seafood feast. Raelynn barely ate anything herself, knowing cold seafood would only make her cramps worse.
She had planned to drive home, but ended up eating something with alcohol in it by mistake and couldn't get behind the wheel. Left with no choice, she hailed a cab to the Croix estate.
She hadn't set foot in that house in nearly a month. Sebastian had clearly been perfectly content with her absence, having never bothered to call and check on her even once.

I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....

I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
