Flicking the ash from his cigarette, a lazy, unhurried smirk touched his lips as some private thought crossed his mind. "My Mrs. Croix seems to have developed quite a temper lately."
Julian gave him a surprised look, finding the reaction utterly bizarre. "You aren't mad that she actually burned your wedding photos?"
Sebastian turned around and strode toward the house, his long legs eating up the distance. He didn't spare the drum a single glance. "Whatever. Let her throw her tantrums."

Raelynn had taken a cab here.
Which meant she had to walk nearly a mile to get back to the main road to hail another one.
She had originally planned to talk to Sebastian about the antique shop's ownership rights, but after today's disaster, that window was permanently closed.
She walked in silence.
Her mind ruthlessly calculating the exact day she could officially collect her divorce decree.
The divorce agreement that Chairman Croix Sr. had forced them to sign back then had been notarized and registered at city hall.
Though Sebastian was completely in the dark.

Raelynn paused and looked up at the bleak, gray sky.

She was about to step into a brand-new life.
She was done waiting around for someone else to hand her happiness.

A Maybach pulled up beside her.
Julian rolled down the window.
"Where to? I'll give you a ride."
Raelynn stared at him, her voice deadpan. "Since when do you play the Good Samaritan?"
Julian let out a choked laugh, genuinely taken aback.
"Raelynn, don't you think you're being a little ungrateful? Am I the one who cheated on you? Don't you think your attitude is completely out of line?"
Raelynn pulled her coat tighter around herself. Her expression was serene, but her words were razor-sharp. "You know the saying 'birds of a feather flock together'? If you want to play Seraphina's valiant knight, am I supposed to stop you from guarding the trash can?"
Julian was speechless.
Seeing a Seaport City number.
He answered languidly.
"Dad."
"When are you coming back to Seaport?"
His family was hounding him to return and take the reins of the corporate empire again. Julian turned his head toward the window. "My sister has been missing for years. You might be able to sit tight, but I can't just live my life in peace."
A heavy silence fell over the line.
Julian knew his missing sister was a painful thorn in the Yves family's side.
He massaged his temples.
From the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of the brightly lit estate in the distance.
Leaning back in his seat, he let out a low chuckle.
Stringing together a ridiculous, yet undeniable excuse.
"You know how tight Sebastian and I are. Honestly, it looks like he's gearing up for his second wedding soon. I have to stay for the ceremony, right?"
Whatever.
Sebastian had plenty of clout with the older generation.
Using his name as a shield wouldn't hurt.

I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
