Raelynn stood up with her medical books and walked out just in time to see it.
Sebastian's eyes were lowered, staring intently at the divorce agreement she had signed seven years ago.
She realized he was only just now noticing the little surprise she'd left for him.
Even when it came to a divorce, she had to be the good, accommodating wife, preparing everything perfectly and waiting for him to graciously spare a moment of his busy schedule to review it.
Since he had clearly seen the papers.
She didn't linger for a single second, nor did she say another word. She turned and walked out of the bedroom.
Sebastian watched her leave, his dark brows pulling together slightly.
He picked up the envelope and flipped it over.
The only person in this house who could have left it there was Raelynn.
Just as he was about to open it.
His phone rang again.
Seeing Seraphina's name on the screen, Sebastian didn't hesitate; he tossed the envelope back onto the vanity.
He strode out of the room.
Mary came in, saw the envelope, and looked at Sebastian as he was leaving. "Sir, aren't you going to look at it? Mrs. Croix asked me to remind you to read this."
Sebastian was already swiping to answer Seraphina's call.
His deep voice sounded entirely unbothered. "Put it away for now. It's her stuff; it can't be urgent."
-
Raelynn reached her car.
Just as she opened the door.
She heard hurried footsteps behind her.
Seeing Sebastian walking quickly while on the phone, she figured he had already checked the divorce agreement and wanted to ask if he had any issues with it.
After all, when he signed it seven years ago, he had no idea it was a divorce agreement, so he was completely blind to the terms.
"Did you finish reading the div—"
Before she could finish her sentence.
Sebastian brushed past her.
He hadn't even noticed she was speaking.
She could hear his patient, soothing voice. "If you've caught a cold, just rest. I'm on my way."
For a man as cold as Sebastian to show such incredible patience, she couldn't think of anyone else who would receive that treatment.
The Bentley roared to life and sped off right in front of her.
