The question caught everyone off guard.
Julian shook his head. "No. He's the only son of the Vasquez family, and he's not even married. Where would he get a kid?"
Sebastian stared at the melting ice in his glass. "Then she's a Hudson."
That beautiful little girl was most likely the same one who was injured by Shane Vance and hospitalized recently.
The same little girl Raelynn had furiously defended against him.
Leo immediately realized who Sebastian was talking about.
He chimed in, "Oh, I saw Raelynn and Preston playing house with a kid downstairs earlier. Raelynn was practically treating the kid like her own. It's obvious how desperate she is to be a mom."
"A Hudson?" Julian thought of the young man currently running the Hudson family. "Raelynn is only close to Chloe Hudson. Chloe has a younger brother who is still in college. It couldn't be from their immediate branch of the family... Since when is Raelynn so chummy with the Hudsons that she's babysitting for them?"
"Are you sure the kid is a Hudson?"
Sebastian's eyes were as dark as ink. "Yes."
Back at the hospital, he had specifically asked the nurses' station.
The little girl's name was Lily Hudson.
She absolutely belonged to the Hudson family.
Noticing Sebastian's sudden fascination with a stranger's child, Seraphina pressed her lips together. "Sebastian, why the sudden interest in a child from the Hudson family?"
From what she knew, Sebastian wasn't particularly fond of children.
He hadn't even shown this level of concern for her nephew, Shane.
Her question drew the attention of Julian and Leo.
Sebastian leaned back, his strikingly handsome face giving nothing away. "Just curious."
Seraphina supposed that made sense.
They had bumped into the kid downstairs, and Raelynn was there. Raelynn had likely paraded someone else's child in front of Sebastian just to grab his attention.
A pathetic attempt to remind him that she wanted a baby.
It wasn't hard to figure out.
In the short time it took Raelynn to upload her latest clinical data, NexusMind had already been flooded with frantic inquiries from top-tier investment firms.
Preston was ecstatic. "NexusMind is the hottest thing in the investment world right now. Everyone wants a piece of the pie. But, there are a lot of skeptics. They think the proposed technology is practically impossible to execute right now."
Raelynn understood the hesitation.
The barrier to entry was astronomically high.
Merging traditional and Western medicine required flawlessly integrating two fundamentally clashing medical philosophies.
But having spent over a decade studying medicine and majoring in Artificial Intelligence, she knew exactly what she was doing.
"NexusMind is blowing up because of this, but everyone is mostly obsessed with finding out who the lead developer is. People are digging everywhere, and some are already speculating that Faye is secretly pulling the strings."
Raelynn had to admit, some people in the industry had terrifying instincts.
Because she was, in fact, Faye.
She had thought this through carefully.
"Let's wait until my divorce is finalized before we even think about going public. When I went out of state to have Lily, I used the name Faye. If my identity gets exposed right now, it's too dangerous."

I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
