Faye was an absolute legend in the industry.
If word got out that she was the infamous Faye, she would attract an overwhelming, dangerous amount of attention.
People would dig relentlessly into her background.
And there were certain secrets that couldn't withstand that level of scrutiny.
Right now, keeping Lily a secret was her absolute top priority.
Caution was the only option.
After all, she didn't have the divorce certificate in her hands yet.
For the time being, she would continue operating solely as an ordinary researcher for NexusMind.
Preston nodded in agreement. "Makes sense. A few more weeks won't hurt."
Afterward, Raelynn and Preston spent hours filtering through several rounds of potential investors.
That afternoon.
Raelynn headed to Covenant Medical Center to monitor the clinical trials.
The moment she stepped into the lobby, she ran into Leo Flynn.
Raelynn instantly averted her gaze, treating him as though he were invisible.
Seeing her blatant disregard, a flash of embarrassment crossed Leo's face.
He hadn't realized Raelynn despised him quite this much.
But then he remembered why he was at the hospital today...
"Leo, what are you doing standing around here?"
Seraphina descended the staircase.
Shane's vitals had been abnormal, requiring him to be hospitalized for observation, so she had been at the hospital almost every single day recently.
Leo turned around, spotting Sebastian trailing slightly behind her. He let out a weary sigh. "Have you guys heard about NexusMind's new investment pitch?"
Sebastian lowered his eyes, casually twirling his phone between his fingers, listening silently.
A mocking glint flashed in Seraphina's eyes. "The technical barriers are insurmountable. They're trying to build a highly complex surgical robot that heavily relies on traditional medical theory. The friction between the two disciplines is massive. Unless they have someone who is an absolute god in both traditional medicine and artificial intelligence, they won't be able to synchronize the systems. On top of that, they need to run everything through the Digi-Medica database. You're talking about forcing three completely different factions of scientists to perfectly integrate highly proprietary, conflicting technology. The odds of success are astronomical."
Traditional and Western medicine were fundamentally at odds.
How could NexusMind possibly overcome such colossal technological walls?
She acknowledged NexusMind was a rising star in the tech world.
But this concept? It was nothing but arrogant hot air.
Leo was completely convinced.
"Exactly. Traditional medicine, Western medicine, AI, plus the Digi-Medica database... Those teams will probably rip each other apart over technical disputes before they ever build a prototype. Forget it. I'm not investing. I'll just stall my grandfather for a while so he doesn't tear my head off."
He decided to lie and say he had invested.
Let someone else throw their money into the fire. When the project inevitably imploded and his grandfather asked about it, Leo could reveal he hadn't spent a dime, proving his superior business instincts.
