It was Matilda Croix.
Raelynn figured that powerful people could find out anything with a snap of their fingers. Her new phone number was no exception; of course Matilda knew it.
She answered the call.
Matilda didn't bother with pleasantries. "What time are you heading over?" she demanded.
"I'm leaving shortly," Raelynn replied.
"Is Sebastian with you right now?"
Raelynn hesitated for a fraction of a second, about to say yes.
Matilda scoffed coldly. "What is that boy busy with now?"
"You two must arrive together today. Otherwise, what will people think?"
Raelynn had learned her lesson and knew better than to openly defy Matilda. "I know."
She ended the call.
After debating with herself, she decided to dial Sebastian's number anyway.
Even though she knew he hadn't saved her new number, she still had to go through the motions.
Unsurprisingly, he didn't answer.
He had left the house incredibly early that morning, skipping breakfast with her entirely.
She had no idea if he was actually swamped with work or if he was just deliberately ignoring her existence.
Since she couldn't reach him, Raelynn had no choice but to drive there herself.
Louis Flynn's birthday bash was a massive spectacle. The Flynn family had lavishly booked the entire resort, taking over the banquet halls, guest suites, and entertainment areas to accommodate guests flying in from all over the country.
Raelynn had to take the highway for a good portion of the trip, taking nearly an hour and a half to finally reach the destination.
Luxury cars lined the sprawling driveway.
Guests streamed in and out of the resort while the waitstaff bustled around in a synchronized frenzy.
Unfamiliar with the massive venue, Raelynn tried to scan the area to see if Sebastian had arrived yet.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the property.
