Louis Flynn's voice boomed with commanding authority.
It was loud enough that almost everyone in the vicinity heard him loud and clear.
A wave of sheer shock rippled through the crowd, and heads whipped around in total confusion.
Seraphina was completely blindsided, convinced she had misheard. Her gentle smile shattered instantly. "Excuse me?"
Even Raelynn was baffled.
The old man was blatantly kicking her out. What on earth had Seraphina done to offend him so severely?
It was a major birthday celebration. Normally, any conflict would be handled discreetly behind closed doors. But this public expulsion...
Louis was stripping Seraphina of every last shred of dignity.
He clearly didn't care what anyone thought. "Mr. Lawson, arrange a car to escort this young woman out."
Of course, he wasn't going to broadcast the actual reason to the entire room.
This involved the private affairs of the Croix family.
Exposing her as a mistress in front of all these elite guests would drag the Croix family's reputation through the mud, tank their stock prices, and destroy their corporate image.
That was precisely why prominent families were so militant about their public relations.
This wasn't just a regular cheating scandal; it was a PR disaster that could cause massive financial damage.
Seraphina fought desperately to rein in her emotions, forcing herself not to look panicked. She figured Louis must have found out the truth about who really saved him and was furious.
Since he didn't state the reason aloud, she couldn't exactly demand an explanation or act devastated.
With a rigid posture, she forced the words out: "I apologize, Mr. Flynn. I actually have an urgent family emergency I need to attend to. I'm afraid I won't be able to stay until the end of the celebration. Please forgive me."
As soon as she spoke, the tension in the room eased slightly.
Oh, so it wasn't an expulsion. She just had an emergency.
Seraphina turned to Sebastian with a perfectly crafted, understanding smile. "Sebastian, please stay and celebrate with Mr. Flynn. Don't worry about me, I can head back on my own."
Her words painted a flawless picture.
It wasn't that Sebastian was refusing to leave with her; it was her being an incredibly supportive, selfless partner.
The crowd practically swooned over her maturity. What a confident, secure woman.
Sebastian clearly understood exactly what Seraphina was doing. He gave a single nod. "I'll have someone escort you."
He graciously gave her the out she needed.
And he refrained from confronting Louis about the blatant disrespect.
