Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 269

Leo Flynn gave a curt nod, shot Raelynn a sharp, contemptuous glare, and scoffed before walking away.

Raelynn was baffled.

His look made it seem like she had committed some unspeakable crime. It was completely uncalled for.

The birthday banquet was a massive success.

Louis Flynn spent the entire evening entertaining guests, and after knocking back a few drinks, he grew tipsy and had to be escorted back to his suite.

The resort had already prepared accommodations for all the guests who had traveled to attend.

Room cards were distributed at every table.

It saved the guests from a grueling late-night drive, allowing them to rest in absolute luxury.

Raelynn naturally received one as well. Outside, a heavy, relentless rain had begun to fall. Driving back to the city in this weather would take over two hours and could be genuinely dangerous.

She decided to stay the night.

Clutching her key card, she made her way to her assigned suite.

As she approached the door, she stopped.

Sebastian's tall, imposing figure was leaning casually against her doorframe. Bathed in the soft glow of the hallway lights, he was staring up at the driving rain, his dark, bottomless eyes swirling with an unreadable emotion.

But the second he heard her footsteps and turned to look at her, that emotion vanished, replaced by a chilling indifference.

Her eyes instinctively drifted to the brooch on his chest.

The exact same design as hers.

Except his was picked out by Seraphina Vance—a cruel, mocking irony.

It was obvious Sebastian was looking for her. Raelynn hesitated for a second. "You don't have a room?"

He held up his phone, showing the screen. "Video call with my grandma."

Raelynn glanced at it. Knowing how deeply Matilda Croix meddled in their lives, she simply swiped her card and opened the door. Sebastian followed her in, accepting the call.

"Where's Raelynn?" Matilda's voice crackled through the speaker.

"Right here."

Sebastian casually flipped the camera to show Raelynn.

Raelynn's heart had long since grown cold toward the older woman, but she forced a polite facade. "Grandma."

Matilda surveyed the luxurious suite through the screen, her smile radiating satisfaction. "With this storm outside, don't bother driving back. Stay the night and get some proper rest. Think of it as a romantic getaway, just the two of you. It'll bring some fresh excitement you don't get at home."

"Don't worry," Sebastian replied, his tone laced with practiced patience.

Knowing his stubborn streak, Matilda pressed further. "You make sure you spend quality time with Raelynn tonight. That resort is famous for its Fruit Wine. Since you're already there, order a bottle and enjoy yourselves properly."

The call ended.

"Good evening, Ms. Ortiz. We've brought the resort's signature dish: pan-seared foie gras paired with a kiwi reduction. And this is a complimentary bottle of our exclusive, secret-recipe Fruit Wine."

Raelynn eyed the cart. "I didn't order room service."

The waiter offered a polite smile and proceeded to light several aromatic, mood-setting candles around the room. "It was ordered specifically for your suite. Please enjoy your evening."

He retreated swiftly, closing the door behind him.

Sebastian adapted to the situation effortlessly.

He eyed the bottle of wine, a sweet, intoxicating fragrance already wafting from the glass.

He picked it up and took a slow sip. The taste was exceptional.

"Want to try?" he asked, glancing at Raelynn.

Raelynn couldn't read him at all.

Did he seriously not realize this was Matilda's blatant attempt to set a romantic trap for them?

She was absolutely not in the mood to partake. She turned to set her purse on the nightstand, casually throwing him out again. "No thanks. Drink it yourself, and when you're done, please leave."

Silence was her only answer.

Then, a low, dangerously husky voice drifted across the room.

"Raelynn—"
