In the dead quiet of the suite, Sebastian's voice was laced with a dark, suffocating intensity that grated directly against Raelynn's nerves.
Her heart practically leaped into her throat.
She spun around to look at him.
A massive shadow already loomed over her. The man had crossed the room in long, predatory strides. One hand slammed into the wall beside her head, while the other casually flicked the main light switch off.
The room plunged into darkness, save for the soft, ambient glow of the floor lights tracing the edge of the massive bed.
Instinctively, Raelynn stumbled backward. Her heel hit the elevated platform of the bed, and she nearly pitched backward.
Sebastian's large hand shot out, clamping securely around her waist to steady her.
Raelynn tilted her head up, locking eyes with his pitch-black stare. His normally impenetrable composure was unraveling, a terrifying intensity bleeding through the cracks. His grip on her waist tightened.
"Careful," he murmured.
His palm was searing hot through her dress, making her spine go rigid.
Panic flared in her chest. "Sebastian? Are you..."
Her eyes darted wildly toward the bottle of sweet-smelling wine on the cart.
The wine was drugged!
Sebastian's brows furrowed deeply, his sharp Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed hard. But his iron grip on her didn't loosen for a second.
Raelynn shoved frantically at his chest. "How much did you drink? Was there something in that wine?!"
He had already been drinking heavily at the banquet. While no one dared force him to take shots, the sheer volume of toasts meant he was already buzzing. Adding whatever stimulant was in that wine to the mix was a recipe for disaster.
"Go take a cold shower. Right now. Snap out of it!" Raelynn ordered, her face pale as she desperately tried to fix the situation.
Sebastian didn't say a word.
His towering frame radiated overwhelming dominance, his breaths coming out in ragged, scalding pants.
His eyes, glazed with a dark, hazy lust, locked onto her face. His gaze dragged slowly down from her eyes to her lips, and he leaned in closer.
"Sebastian! Look at me! Look at who I am!"
His long fingers threaded roughly through her hair, his voice dropping to a gravelly whisper. "Baby..."
He was completely out of his mind and couldn't even recognize her.
Furious and terrified, Raelynn balled her free hand into a fist and started hammering against his chest.
But her frantic blows were nothing more than a mild annoyance to him. With terrifying ease, he forced her backward onto the mattress. The moment her body bounced against the sheets, he was over her, pinning her down.
