Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 291

She didn't even have as much standing as Seraphina Vance, the mistress on the outside.

"I'm sorry, ma'am, but Mr. Croix is out of the office right now. I'm afraid it's not convenient for him to see you today," the receptionist replied with a flawless smile after checking with the executive office.

Raelynn couldn't quite tell if he was genuinely absent or if he was just denying her entry.

"When will he be back?" Raelynn asked, unwilling to back down.

The receptionist hesitated. "I'm sorry. Assistant Quinn from the executive office said Mr. Croix is out accompanying his girlfriend today. He suggested you come back another time."

Raelynn understood immediately.

No wonder Sebastian wasn't answering her calls. He was too busy and didn't want to be disturbed.

Visitors had to give their names at the front desk. Quinn knew she was waiting downstairs, but he had explicitly denied her entry.

He had even deliberately revealed Sebastian's whereabouts.

It was nothing but a blatant attempt to humiliate her, or perhaps a warning for her to learn her place.

Naturally, Raelynn wasn't going to make things difficult for the receptionist.

After all, it wasn't her decision to block her.

Stepping out of the Croix Holdings building, the reality of the situation finally sank in.

Had she just been kicked out? When they agreed to divorce, Sebastian had given her shares in Croix Holdings, yet she couldn't even get through the front doors.

She was treated worse than Seraphina, the homewrecker who could come and go as she pleased, flaunting her status.

Unable to reach Sebastian, Raelynn had no other options.

Pressing him for the project funds and the divorce certificate would both have to wait.

Defeated, Raelynn received a call from Ian Hudson.

"Mr. Hudson?"

Ian went silent for a brief moment. "Raelynn, we don't have to be so formal with each other."

Raelynn didn't actually mind either way. It was just that her relationship with Ian had always been strictly professional, and the title had become a habit.

"Are you free today?" Ian asked patiently, not pushing the issue.

Raelynn checked the time. "Yes, I actually have the day off."

She hadn't been back to her shared home with Sebastian in a week. She couldn't keep running on fumes forever; today was a good chance to catch her breath.

The line was quiet on Ian's end before his voice came through crisply. "A new entertainment complex is opening soon. They sent me an invitation to their pre-launch party. Do you want to bring Lily and come with me?"

The moment Raelynn got into the passenger seat, Ian handed her a sleek, small thermos. "Elder Finch mentioned you get cold easily. It's going to be chilly out there tonight, so take this."

Raelynn took it. "Thank you."

Ian glanced at her through the rearview mirror. "Don't mention it."

As Raelynn redid Lily's braids, a thought crossed her mind.

With a personality like his, Ian would make a wonderful husband to whoever he married in the future.

Upon arriving at the Citadel Entertainment Complex, they realized just how grand the event was.

It was an exclusive, private party.

Everyone in attendance was either exceptionally wealthy or highly influential.

Lily was thrilled the second she hopped out of the car. Still, she restrained herself, running back to stand between Raelynn and Ian. She grabbed their hands with her tiny fingers. "Let's hold hands so we don't get lost!"

Raelynn couldn't help but laugh.

She had just crouched down to pinch Lily's soft cheek.

When an incredibly annoying child's voice rang out: "Sera! Sebastian! It's that bad woman and Lily Hudson again!"
