Sebastian finally gave a slow, measured nod.
Seraphina cast a sideways glance at Raelynn.
Some losers simply weren't worth her mental energy.
Once the others left the room, Raelynn cut straight to the chase. "When will the funds clear? And when are we getting the divorce papers?"
She didn't waste a single breath on small talk.
Sebastian tilted his head, his dark eyes narrowing as he studied her. It was as if she couldn't even see the injuries covering his body. She looked exactly like a ruthless debt collector showing up at his door, only caring about the money and entirely devoid of basic empathy.
He locked his phone screen, his thumb silently tracing the edge of the device before he spoke in a frigid tone. "Agree to my condition, and the money will be in your account tomorrow."
Raelynn frowned, failing to understand his logic. They had already negotiated the terms perfectly. Why was he suddenly attaching strings to the payment?
"License the rights for Faye's Digi-Medica database to collaborate with the Longstride Technologies project team."
Raelynn pressed her lips into a tight line. Staring at Sebastian's infuriatingly calm face, she let out a dry, exasperated laugh.
So it was all for Seraphina's project after all.
To think he would withhold the funds from NexusMind Technologies just to secure access for Seraphina and pave the way for her success. This wasn't a negotiation; it was extortion, forcing them to agree.
After all, their current project was in full swing. They couldn't afford a single mistake, let alone a halt in funding.
Time waited for no one.
Sebastian watched every micro-expression on her face. "If you agree, we sign the contract tomorrow, and the funds will be transferred simultaneously."
Raelynn saw right through it. He wasn't giving NexusMind any other option.
There wasn't even a need to argue or refuse anymore.
When a man exhausted every resource to elevate a woman out of pure, deep devotion, who could possibly stop him?
It didn't take a genius to figure it out. He was going to such extreme lengths to ensure Seraphina's success just to shut the Croix family up. Only if she became wildly famous and successful would the family accept her and allow her to join them.
What a brilliant calculation.
So, saying anything more would just be a waste of breath.
"NexusMind will consider it," she replied without giving a direct yes. After all, everyone assumed she didn't have the final say anyway.
Raelynn turned on her heel, ready to leave.
