Luke had clearly hit a wall with Raelynn, but he didn't look angry. It seemed his usual temper had been completely worn away by her.
He didn't even mind that she had zero regard for his ego.
He simply shoved his hands into his pockets and stayed rooted by her side. "Fine, whatever you want."
Chloe watched Luke warily. After all, her brother had proposed to Raelynn. She didn't trust any of these other men; her brother was the only one she deemed reliable.
As for Sebastian...
Chloe couldn't help but look over her shoulder at him.
Only to find Sebastian leaning down slightly, listening as Seraphina whispered something in his ear.
He wasn't paying any attention to Raelynn's side of the room, displaying a complete lack of concern that another man might steal her away.
A surge of pure rage hit Chloe's chest.
Even as a bystander, she was absolutely fuming.
Raelynn, on the other hand, was perfectly composed. In this vanity fair, she and Sebastian were nothing more than strangers.
Julian strolled over, his casual gaze sweeping briefly over Raelynn before he spoke. "Since we're all here, why don't we play a few rounds?"
Seraphina looked intrigued. "What are the rules?"
Luke chuckled and joined the conversation. "Our skill levels are all over the place. We don't want anyone saying the pros are bullying the amateurs."
He knew Julian wanted to set up an archery competition.
Julian arched an eyebrow, picking up a bow and testing its weight. "That's why we'll pair up by drawing lots. That way, no one can cry foul. Mr. Lawson, the other executives, and even a few government officials are here today. If you want to impress them and secure those resources, you'll have to rely on your skills. Losers drink three shots. How does that sound?"
Raelynn scanned the area.
Likely out of respect for Dr. Hayes, a significant number of heavy hitters were present, including a high-ranking official.
Someone many people were desperate to connect with.
Using games to distribute resources was standard practice in their circle.
She tacitly agreed to participate.
Hearing this, Leo immediately perked up. "If we're pairing up, it wouldn't be right to split up Sera and Seb. Let's just put them together automatically, and the rest of us can draw. Let's be smart about this and not ruin the golden couple."
As he spoke.
