His voice was flat. "When it comes to what happens here, you will only tell them what they want to hear. As for what my wife does, her attitude, and how things are between us—take that to your grave."
A chill ran down Mary's spine.
She knew Sebastian was threatening her, and the realization terrified her.
At the same time.
A fleeting thought crossed her mind—was he trying to keep his private life away from the main estate, or was he actually protecting his wife?
But Mary quickly caught herself.
Probably not.
It was far more likely that he simply had no desire to have a child with Raelynn, which explained his actions.
Suddenly, she realized something.
Raelynn refusing to tend to his injury wasn't a sign that he was being neglected.
It just proved how pathetic and pitiful Raelynn truly was. Sebastian had absolutely no intention of being intimate with her, let alone starting a family.

After Raelynn hurried outside, the driver quickly caught up to her, offering a ride.
Since she had arrived in Sebastian's car and had no other way out of the estate, she agreed.
Sebastian's car featured a privacy partition. Raelynn rolled it up before finally calling Ian back.
Ian picked up almost instantly.
For a moment, Raelynn's voice failed her.
After a two-second pause, Ian asked, "How are you doing?"
The interrogation she had expected never came. She was taken aback. "Me?"
"Is what happened today going to cause trouble for you?" The chaotic sound of airport announcements echoed in the background as he spoke. "Do you need my help?"
Raelynn froze. "Did you know all along?"
Ian hadn't asked a single thing about her marriage to Sebastian. He didn't even show the most basic shock or demand an explanation.
Ian fell silent for a moment. "You could say that."
Only when he was sure Raelynn would have a moment of privacy did he make the call.
"I'll be away on business for at least two weeks. I know you're set on a divorce, and this situation might be incredibly difficult for you. I won't be in the country, but if you need anything, call my secretary. He'll handle it on my behalf."
Raelynn hadn't expected Ian to go this far for her.
She opened her mouth, her voice soft. "Thank you."
Ian glanced at his subordinate, who was urging him to board. "Raelynn," he said, "don't be afraid."
Raelynn's eyes flickered. She gripped her phone, remaining silent.
Ian reminded her, "Don't forget, I'm Lily's dad too. It's my responsibility to protect her."
Raelynn's frantic heartbeat finally settled into a steady rhythm.
Ian was giving her his word.
He had chosen her and Lily. He would never use Lily as a bargaining chip to curry favor with the Croix family.
He knew exactly what had been running through her mind.
