Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 340

Raelynn could only think of one possibility.

With so many guests at the Croix Anniversary Gala, the slightest ripple of gossip would have easily leaked out.

The odds of Ian Hudson knowing the truth were incredibly high.

At that moment, a subconscious wave of anxiety washed over Raelynn, her chest tightening with dread.

She had no idea how Ian would react. His previous help with settling Lily—and his ongoing efforts to transfer Lily's registration—were entirely based on the assumption that her secret husband wasn't Sebastian Croix.

But now?

If Ian continued to help her, he would inevitably cross Sebastian and the entire Croix family.

Ian was a businessman.

In a world where profit was paramount, no one acted without a motive, and no one willingly made a losing deal.

Making an enemy of Sebastian over this wasn't just a minor conflict.

She was terrified that Ian would cut ties with her, leaving Lily exposed to the world...

A cold sweat broke out on Raelynn's forehead.

She sat there, shifting restlessly as anxiety consumed her.

Gripping her ringing phone, her mind raced at a mile a minute.

Sebastian traced the rim of his warm teacup with his long fingers. In his peripheral vision, he took in Raelynn's frantic state. No matter how well she tried to hide her panic, he could easily peel back the layers and see right through it.

She clearly cared deeply about why Ian was calling.

Or perhaps, she was worried that the exposure of their marriage would ruin her relationship with the other man.

"Aren't you going to answer?" he asked lightly.

The question came out of nowhere.

Startled back to reality, Raelynn instinctively shoved the still-ringing phone into her pocket. "I can't be sure these contracts and transfer documents are completely safe from legal traps right now. I need to take them back and review them carefully. I see you've already stamped the company seal and signed them, so all that's missing is my signature. If everything checks out, I'll sign them immediately. It won't delay Monday's handover."

She completely dodged his question.

Like hell she was going to answer it!

Of course, she couldn't pick up!

She was supposed to push them toward intimacy.

Matilda was dead set on Raelynn providing an heir for the family.

But seeing how utterly estranged the couple was now...

Mary muttered, "Besides, it's your birthday today, and she hasn't shown the slightest bit of care. She used to plan such nice celebrations for you..."

It was as if he had absolutely nothing to do with her! Let alone a gift or a celebratory dinner, she hadn't even offered a simple 'Happy Birthday'.

Sebastian glanced over at her, his dark gaze radiating a boundless, freezing chill.

But his tone remained perfectly even. "Mary, who signs your paychecks?"

Mary froze. "You..."

"Then whose money are you taking, and who are you really working for?"

Mary's face drained of color, her lips trembling.

Sebastian stared at the first-aid kit before reaching out and snapping it shut, abandoning any intention of changing his dressing.
