Raelynn actually felt a twinge of gratitude toward Seraphina Vance. If the other woman hadn't fallen ill, Sebastian Croix wouldn't have made such a grand, door-slamming exit, and Raelynn would have been trapped there all night, suffocating under the tension.
This was for the best.
As for how the rest of the Croix family viewed her, she couldn't care less.
She knew Sebastian was going to have his hands full tonight.
Since the estate was close to their marital home, she simply drove there.
She slept soundly, enjoying a night without a single dream.
For the next two days, Raelynn and Sebastian didn't cross paths.
Neither reached out to the other.
It was as if their veiled argument that night had been nothing but an illusion, just like the supposed "miscarriage" incident at the Croix Ancestral Estate.
On the surface, everything seemed perfectly calm.
Raelynn had a mountain of work on her plate. With Longstride Technologies now under her purview, she had to juggle responsibilities across two companies.
She made sure to regularly check in on Longstride's operations.
"Ms. Ortiz," Mr. Tanner reported, "Ms. Vance has added more people to her team. She claims she's expanding the new features on her project. Beyond basic patient triage, she wants the robot to have operating room capabilities to assist in major surgeries. It's going to require significantly more resources."
Raelynn caught the underlying issue immediately. "Did she bypass me and go straight to you?"
Mr. Tanner understood exactly what she was getting at. He felt the tension between the two women was like a rubber band stretched to its limits—and when it finally snapped, the collateral damage would only hit the bystanders like him.
"Yes," he admitted carefully. "Ms. Vance asked me to sign off on the approval directly."
The truth was a bit more complicated.
Seraphina had approached him multiple times. Her project was in a critical phase; beyond mere funding, it needed Longstride to pave the way with various resource channels.
It was going to be a time-consuming and labor-intensive process for the company.
An endeavor of this scale absolutely required the top boss's approval.
Yet, Seraphina refused to go through Raelynn, acting as if the new owner of the company didn't even exist.
Her arrogant attitude was on full display. He could see it clear as day, which was why he felt so awkwardly caught in the middle.
Raelynn saw right through Seraphina's motives. The other woman seemed to believe that as long as she didn't formally request Raelynn's approval, she wouldn't be bowing her head to her.
