Perhaps it was the attention drawn by her recently "spending the night."
When Sebastian Croix answered his phone, almost everyone at the dinner table was hyper-focused on him.
Assistant Quinn's voice was clearly audible.
Seraphina Vance was sitting closest to him, and the sickly sweet smile on her lips vanished in an instant.
She stood up in disbelief. "There must be a mistake?"
After all, this was a massive medical malpractice claim right during the crucial launch period of her smart medical technology. A crisis now would completely ruin her career!
Matilda Croix sat on the other side of Sebastian, her expression instantly turning freezing cold.
"What does this mean? Get the details," she demanded.
She ordered Sebastian to lay everything out in the open so she could understand the situation.
Raelynn Ortiz had no idea what was going on, looking over in confusion.
Knowing his grandmother's domineering nature, Sebastian simply put the call on speakerphone. His tone remained remarkably steady. "Give me the specifics."
Quinn reported with grave seriousness, "Just after five this evening, Gracefield Private Hospital completed a gallbladder removal surgery. However, half an hour post-op, the patient died from a perforated bowel. The hospital tried to cover it up, but since you had me keep a close eye on Ms. Vance's project, I caught wind of it."
Seraphina's face drained of color.
How could her machine cause a fatal accident right after entering the operating room?
"Isn't that the surgeon's fault?" she asked, trying desperately to steady her voice.
Quinn replied, "The hospital stated that the surgical robot provided by Ms. Vance malfunctioned, resulting in imprecise movements that caused the perforation."
Seraphina's breathing grew erratic.
She was utterly stunned.
Even Raelynn couldn't help but frown.
This was a matter of life and death.
A supposedly minimally invasive surgery had resulted in a catastrophic tragedy.
How innocent were the patient and their family?
