She walked right through the door with Sebastian.
The young nurse was still rambling. "Oh my god, seeing a couple like that totally cures my fear of marriage! I think I've figured out a universal truth."
Raelynn was already back to flipping through her data charts. "Let's hear it."
"The hotter the guy, the more loyal he is!"
Raelynn gave the girl, who was three or four years younger than her, a deeply complicated look. She couldn't help but say, "A man's charm is mostly just a woman's imagination running wild."
But the nurse insisted, "No way! Just look at them, you can tell they are so in love!"
Raelynn couldn't argue with that.
As the actual wife in this marriage, even she had to give a standing ovation to this epic, whirlwind affair.
"Raelynn, tell me, why aren't handsome, loyal, perfect men like that out on the open market?" The nurse sighed wistfully.
This time, Raelynn snapped her clipboard shut and patted the young nurse on the shoulder. "Oh, they're on the market, alright. If you miss the first round, you can grab them on the third, fourth, fifth, or sixth round. A man's ultimate dream is just bouncing loyally from one bed to the next. The body is always on clearance, and the personality is completely worthless."
The nurse was speechless.
What happened to the second round? Why did we skip straight to the third?
Raelynn had no desire to keep talking about it.
The nurse looked at her with genuine concern. "Raelynn, you look awful, and I could tell from down the hall. Are you sure you don't want to take some medicine?"
Raelynn smiled and shook her head. "I'm fine. It's almost gone."
The nurse didn't push it any further.
By the end of the morning, Raelynn had mapped out the core operational model for Covenant's Department of Integrative Medicine.
During her break, Chloe Hudson blew up her phone with a flood of screenshots.
Every single one of them was about Seraphina.
Chloe: [Sebastian bought Seraphina a mansion? The whole circle is talking about it!]
Raelynn's eyes flickered. When Sebastian negotiated with her to give up the house and casually dropped two hundred million, she should have known. If he was willing to throw that kind of money at his ex-wife just to secure the house, there was no way he'd let Seraphina pay for it herself.
She clicked open the screenshots of the wealthy socialites' group chats.
When lunch rolled around, she decided to check out the Covenant cafeteria.
She walked over and pressed the button for the elevator.
The doors slid open.
Raelynn froze in her tracks.
Sebastian was standing inside. Hearing the chime, he lifted his eyes and looked straight at her.
Raelynn hesitated for a split second before stepping inside.
She didn't feel the need to run and hide from him.
It was an off-peak hour, so the elevators were mostly empty.
They were the only two people inside, standing on opposite sides of the car, an invisible boundary line drawn clearly between them.
Raelynn's nose was completely stuffed up, her head felt heavy, and she couldn't stop quietly clearing her throat.
"Caught a cold?" Sebastian asked, his gaze lowering to study her profile.

I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
