Scooting away, she gripped the armrest and settled on the opposite end of the sofa.
She wasn't willing to pretend to be a loving wife for a second longer than necessary.
Sebastian watched her retreat, his eyes devoid of any readable emotion.
She had practically tumbled to the other side due to her exhaustion.
Out in the hallway.
The reporters reviewed their digital cameras, murmuring amongst themselves. "It's not a scandalous affair, but this is still gold. A picture of the billionaire and his wife showing PDA? The rumors about his mysterious wife have been swirling for weeks. This is definitely an exclusive."
Seraphina heard every single word clearly.
Her expression darkened instantly.
Theon wasn't in there?
He was supposed to be in that room.
Pressing her lips into a thin line, she shot a venomous glare down the corridor.
-
Julian pushed open the bathroom door and stepped out.
Leaning against the frame, he let out a massive sigh of relief.
"I have never felt more like an illicit lover hiding in a closet in my entire life."
Especially since he had just instinctively dragged an unconscious man away like he was hiding a dead body.
He turned his gaze to Raelynn.
She was so much stronger than he had realized. Even after enduring a nightmare, she wasn't sobbing or breaking down. She just sat there quietly, recovering her breath, her small face pale but stoic.
The man sitting beside her was exactly the same.
A bizarre tension blanketed the room.
Julian didn't know what had transpired between them just now.
But the air felt uncomfortably brittle.
Sebastian stood up. "I'm taking her to the hospital for a blood test. As for him, keep it quiet for now."
With that.
He stepped over to Raelynn, scooped her into his arms, and lifted her.
Raelynn frowned. She hated being held by him, but she knew she urgently needed medical attention to flush the drugs out of her system.
So she didn't fight him.
"Got it," Julian replied, his lips tightening as he noticed the ugly bruises ringing Raelynn's throat.
He gritted his teeth.
