Still under the influence of the drugs, Raelynn's brain was sluggish.
She just stared at him. His eyes were so dark and predatory they were terrifying, yet his tone remained surprisingly gentle.
Sebastian didn't wait for her to process it.
He wrapped an arm around her waist, effortlessly hoisting her up, and snagged her discarded heels from the floor in one smooth motion.
Carrying her to the sofa behind them, he sat down and positioned her sideways across his lap. He draped his suit jacket carefully over her upper body and face, completely shielding her identity so the cameras would only catch the back of her head.
Raelynn couldn't find the strength to fight him.
She had no choice but to let him orchestrate the scene.
He leaned down slightly, slipping the stilettos back onto her feet.
His movements were swift and meticulous.
Through the gap in the jacket, she saw the horrifying smear of blood across the back of his right hand.
"Raelynn."
The chaotic noise outside was growing louder by the second.
Sebastian adjusted the collar of the jacket around her shoulders, tucking her in even tighter. His gaze grew dangerously dark. "Close your eyes."
She knew the swarm of reporters was just seconds away. To say she wasn't terrified would be a lie.
If the truth of tonight got out, her reputation would be utterly destroyed.
Her subconscious urge to push him away faltered, her hands freezing against his chest.
Steeling her nerves, she squeezed her eyes shut.
He cupped her cheek.

Seraphina arrived on the floor but didn't walk all the way down.
She watched the pack of reporters sprint toward the room, heavy cameras in hand.
With a raised brow, she leaned casually against the wall.
Raelynn had been taken away by Theon.
Seraphina knew exactly what kind of man he was from their time abroad.
There was no way Raelynn was getting out of this unscathed.
And with this many reporters swarming, if they captured even a single scandalous frame, Raelynn would become the laughingstock of high society.
The Croix family would never tolerate a disgraced daughter-in-law.
She observed from afar.
