Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 469

Seraphina tightened her lips. Grabbing her teacup, she stood up and walked directly over to Evelyn, her face plastered with a mask of deep concern. "Chairwoman Hayes, are you feeling better? Things have been so chaotic lately, and Sebastian has been drowning in corporate matters. We feel terrible that we haven't been able to come visit you."

Raelynn glanced at her from the corner of her eye but remained silent.

Evelyn, however, had zero tolerance for fake pleasantries and saw right through the performance. She slowly looked up. "Who are you?"

Those three words sent a dead silence crashing over the table.

Sebastian leisurely shifted his gaze toward them.

Seraphina froze, a look of utter panic flashing across her face. "Excuse me? We've met multiple times... Chairwoman Hayes, don't you remember me? When you fainted last time, I was the one who helped."

Evelyn took a slow sip of her tea. "I know that. I'm asking who you are in relation to Mr. Croix. You keep tossing the word 'we' around like you own the place. Would you care to enlighten the rest of us on what exactly you are to him?"

Truthfully, Evelyn hadn't planned on getting involved in this mess. But Seraphina had practically begged for it by stepping into her airspace and flaunting her status.

Evelyn knew perfectly well that Sebastian was a married man. Even though his wife was kept out of the public eye and Evelyn didn't know the specifics, she absolutely refused to let some brazen side piece ride his coattails and flex her power right in her face.

Seraphina's polite smile began to curdle. She couldn't understand why Chairwoman Hayes despised her so much.

And worse, how was she supposed to answer that question? With Cameron out of prison and Raelynn's identity already somewhat known in elite corporate circles, anything she said right now would instantly be exposed as a lie.

Sitting nearby, Adrian threw a dark look at Sebastian before turning to Evelyn. "I think there's been a misunderstanding, Dr. Hayes. Mr. Croix is a married man with a family."

Adrian knew about the divorce, but since the ink was barely dry and it wasn't public knowledge yet—and Raelynn had asked for secrecy—he figured he could use her title as a shield one last time.

"Oh, I'm well aware," Evelyn shot back smoothly. "That's exactly why I'm asking who she is, and why she thinks she has no boundaries when clinging to a married man."

The oxygen seemed to vanish from the room.
