Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 49

At the time, she honestly thought she had done something wrong to offend Sebastian's friends.

That was why she had asked.

She never expected Sebastian to react with such chilling indifference.

She was heartbroken for days after that.

But Sebastian was completely unaffected. He never even noticed her pain.

Or perhaps.

He had known all along, but... he just didn't care.

He couldn't be bothered to waste time comforting her.

In the end, she had to lie to herself, had to comfort herself. Having never experienced being loved or cared for growing up, she convinced herself that maybe needing "space" and occasional neglect was just how normal relationships worked.

She even told herself to stop being so sensitive.

Looking back on it now...

Raelynn closed the app.

Everyone goes through a pathetic phase of growth.

Some wake up early, some wake up late.

When someone doesn't love you, even giving them your whole heart is a mistake.

Stubbornly loving someone who doesn't love you back isn't romantic—it's just selfish, self-indulgent delusion.

"When Lily comes back, is she staying with you first? Or going back to Professor Finch's?" Chloe's question pulled Raelynn back to reality.

Raelynn thought about it while washing vegetables. "Maybe it's safer for her to stay with Professor Finch for now?"

After all, The Croix Family was unpredictable. It was better to be incredibly careful to avoid any accidents.

Chloe took a bite of a radish. "I can take her too. She's got the Hudson last name anyway. Even if he saw her, on paper, she's just a Hudson kid. He wouldn't get suspicious."

With the child legally registered under her cousin's name, even if someone looked into it, the truth wouldn't be easy to uncover.

Raelynn agreed that was a good plan.

Thank God she had a backup plan.

If Lily had the last name Ortiz, it would be no different than handing herself over.

And she certainly wasn't going to let her have the Vance last name.

Raelynn set a bowl of noodles on the table. "You're already so busy. Don't worry, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. But... your cousin is single. He did me a massive favor, and I should figure out how to resolve this eventually. I don't want his future elite fiancée throwing a fit because he's technically a single dad with a 'daughter.'"
