Sebastian slowly pulled his gaze away from Raelynn's departing car. "I'll take you home. Don't let it bother you."
Seraphina frowned and looked at the license plate on Sebastian's car again.
She silently knit her brows.
They were both women; how could she not see right through Raelynn's scheming?
On one hand, Raelynn was trying a new tactic, acting erratic and unpredictable to catch Sebastian's attention. On the other hand, she was pulling these sneaky little stunts to mislead the public about her relationship with him.
She was desperate to make people guess who she was to Sebastian.
What a desperate clout-chaser.
She refused to stoop to Raelynn's level and fight over something so petty. It was beneath her.
-
Raelynn returned to the NexusMind R&D center.
She had new drugs to develop, and she needed to keep an eye on the smart medical tech side. There was a lot to confirm before the end of the year.
The R&D center was mostly filled with scientists who only cared about keeping their heads down and crunching pharmaceutical data. Many were voluntarily working overtime.
Chloe Hudson worked in event and program planning, and lately, she was so busy she barely had time to breathe.
She had finally carved out some time, insisting they grab dinner together.
Raelynn decided to head home and cook for her.
Her cooking skills weren't great. She followed tutorials step-by-step for every single dish.
Before making anything, she had to re-watch the tutorial.
Chloe couldn't help but click her tongue. "I highly suggest you let me raise the kid. I'm way better at this than you are."
Raelynn shot her a look over her shoulder.
Chloe's ulterior motives were practically written on her forehead.
"My everyday meals are just okay, but I'm amazing at nutritional meals, medicinal diets, and ingredient balancing." At the very least, she could guarantee the kid would grow up incredibly healthy.
"Lily is only five and a half! If you pump her full of medicinal soups every day, she'll overheat. Don't be a psycho!" Chloe truly was plotting to steal the kid.
The only reason she even knew she had been restricted was because Chloe ran in the same circles and had their contacts too.
Back then, she had been so naive and clueless. At a dinner party, she had actually asked, "Do you guys just not post on social media? I've never seen anything."
The whole table had just smiled in silence.
It wasn't until later.
When she saw Leo and the others' posts on Chloe's phone.
That was when she realized her public question had made her look like a total clown. Their meaningful looks had been pure, undisguised mockery.
She had felt deeply humiliated.
She never wanted to pry; it just felt like being blocked by Sebastian's friends was their way of deliberately erasing her from his life. It was inevitably disappointing.
Back then, she had gone to Sebastian's study and politely asked him why all his friends had blocked her.
She remembered Sebastian hadn't even looked up.
He just asked coldly, "If you weren't constantly obsessing over them, how would you even know? If you want to keep tabs on me, do you really need to go through all that trouble?"
