Seraphina had just reached the door when she heard Raelynn's words.
The smile that had been on her face froze. She looked at Raelynn in near terror.
What was Raelynn trying to do?! Did she want to ruin everyone?!
Exposing this relationship in public—how was she supposed to smoothly marry Sebastian now?!
No matter how much Matilda usually kept her composure, she was trembling with rage now. "Enough! Sebastian, take Raelynn to the back to rest and cool down."
From beginning to end, Sebastian had acted like an outsider. Even when this fire burned its way to him. Even when Raelynn's actions were shaking the core interests of the Croix family. Even when the Croix family's face was being trampled into the dirt.
His gaze slowly moved downward, indifferently resting on the back of Raelynn's hand, which had been cut by the glass shards. Then, his eyes shifted back to her already red-rimmed eyes.
He walked toward Raelynn step by step, his shoes crunching on the glass shards she had smashed, until he stood in front of her. He spoke coldly to a server nearby, "Bring me a Band-Aid."
The nearby server snapped out of his daze, hurriedly dug through his pockets, and handed one to Sebastian.
Sebastian seemed completely unbothered by how chaotic the venue had become. He peeled the Band-Aid and grabbed Raelynn's wrist directly.
Raelynn's face was freezing as she struggled fiercely.
But he gripped her tighter. Raelynn's little bit of strength was no match for him.
Sebastian was very strong, giving her no chance to dodge. Gripping Raelynn's hand, silently fighting against her attempts to break free, he carefully placed the Band-Aid over her cut.
He met her gaze, his eyes cool and clear. "Satisfied?"
But Raelynn said, "Not even close."
What did she have to fear anymore? She wanted to completely and cleanly sever ties with the Croix family today!
The hall remained chaotic.
Raelynn knew Sebastian was only treating her wound to maintain his public image. But she had at least achieved her goal today.
Causing a massive scene was her way of publicly parting ways with the Croix family. Bringing their private conflicts into the open. The Croix family could forget about ever tying her to them again. And with that, holding her divorce certificate hostage would no longer yield them any benefits.
Sebastian released Raelynn at the right moment. He wasn't enraged like the rest of the Croix family. He was remarkably composed, as if he couldn't care less about any of this.
He merely gave a soft sneer. "Thanks to you, the Croix family is going to be very lively for a while."
Raelynn didn't care about the so-called consequences of offending the Croix family. "Then I'd ask that none of you ever cross my path again."
Jeanette was also furious. She walked over and snapped, "Are you out of your mind?! Making such an undignified scene—what good does this do for you? Can you bear the consequences of offending the Croix family?"
Raelynn was already intent on severing all ties with the Croix family. Naturally, she wasn't going to save them an ounce of face. She coldly fired back, "You, someone who climbed into her own brother-in-law's bed to get where you are, have the nerve to judge me for being undignified?"

I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
