Blanche was in a total panic for Seraphina. "Raelynn is doing this on purpose! It's a blatant setup! She laid a trap while you had no idea. If she had just admitted who she was from the start, you never would have gone after her paper!"
Silas was equally infuriated. "Raelynn is just like her mother, Rowan. Unforgiving and ruthless. Back when my company was going under, I just asked Rowan for a few pieces from her antique shop to pawn for cash flow, and she flat-out refused. Didn't care about our family ties at all. Raelynn inherited that exact same selfishness."
Blanche scoffed. "And look where it got her? Rowan ended up in a coma from a car crash. You easily got her fingerprint on the transfer papers for the entire antique shop while she was unconscious. A little money could have solved your problems, but no. That crash was just karma catching up to her."
Silas fell silent.
Anxious about Seraphina's mess, Blanche quickly pivoted back. "What's Mr. Croix's stance on this? Is he protecting you?"
Seraphina closed her eyes tightly. "His attitude toward me hasn't changed."
"Thank God," Blanche exhaled in relief. "Here's what you do. Beg Sebastian to handle this. It's a walk in the park for him. One word from him, and Kingsford University will sweep this under the rug. And as for the antique shop... your father went through hell to get that property from Rowan. If he hadn't held onto it as leverage to force Sebastian to clean up your previous medical malpractice scandal, Sebastian never would have stepped in. Your dad had to use shady channels to finalize the paperwork.
"Now that things have blown up, Raelynn will definitely try to take the shop back. Go act sweet with Sebastian. Ask him for the deed. Have him formally gift it to you."
Seraphina considered her mother's words.
It made sense.
As long as Sebastian was in her corner, the university scandal wasn't a death sentence.
As for the antique shop, she'd rather burn it to the ground than let Raelynn have it back.
"I understand."
Seraphina finally felt her heart settle.
This setback wasn't going to destroy her.
***
Raelynn deliberately slipped away to avoid Sebastian.
She knew all too well that exposing her identity as Faye meant a lot of things were about to spiral out of control.
