Dr. Evelyn Hayes felt her mood soften slightly.
After all the commotion and the dread of thinking the authentic painting had been destroyed, a renewed sense of hope sparked within her. Now, she was genuinely intrigued by Raelynn's family shop.
As for the DNA test.
It was best to keep it quiet until the dust settled.
Having professionals come directly to the Yves estate to collect samples would be the most secure approach.
"Alright, let's all move to the front hall," Dr. Hayes announced. She handed the water-damaged forgery to a nearby staff member, then turned and strode briskly ahead.
She didn't reprimand anyone else.
But that didn't mean all was forgiven.
Sylvia Dalton looked up at Quentin Yves with a helpless, bitter smile. "I seem to have upset the esteemed elder. I never imagined the piece I commissioned someone to find would turn out to be a fake."

Raelynn had witnessed the entire ordeal.
She didn't want to waste much thought on the Yves family drama, but before leaving, she couldn't help frowning as she glanced over at Sebastian Croix, who had once again positioned himself as an aloof bystander.
His intervention.
Had seemingly pulled Seraphina out of the eye of the storm, at least for the moment.
But by exposing Sylvia's painting as a forgery, he had thrown Sylvia into an incredibly awkward position. Now, in Chairwoman Hayes's eyes, Sylvia looked like a schemer who had tried to curry favor with a fake. Sylvia's standing within the Yves family had clearly taken a hit.
Having watched the whole conflict unfold, Raelynn naturally understood that neither Seraphina nor Sylvia had walked away unscathed today.
Was this Sebastian's way of getting even for Seraphina?
But...
