She had no idea what was going on, who kidnapped her, or if they were still lurking nearby. All she could do was run and grasp at whatever slim chance of survival she had.
But the Sevoflurane lingered heavily in her system.
Every step felt as if the bones had been ripped from her legs.
With her arms bound behind her, her sense of balance was entirely destroyed, leaving her with no control over her own body.
She stumbled and tripped the entire way.
In a burst of desperation, Raelynn bit her lip hard until it bled, forcing a brief moment of clarity.
She kept pushing forward into the distance.
Only when she was far away from the abandoned car.
Did Raelynn finally pause to catch her breath.
The wilderness wasn't like the brightly lit city; the moment night fell, visibility plummeted. She only knew she was on a mountain, and as she walked, she struggled to undo the ropes around her wrists.
Thankfully.
The kidnappers probably assumed a woman couldn't fight back, so the knots weren't particularly tight.
After about ten minutes, she finally broke free.
Tossing the rope aside, Raelynn took a deep breath and dragged her exhausted body forward.
She had already checked.
Her phone was gone; there was no way to call for help.
She had to save herself.
Raelynn focused on her body. She had no idea how the kidnappers got their hands on such a massive dose of Sevoflurane, but it was so strong her vision went black with every step.
She had to stop and lean against a tree, gasping for air.
The sky went dark.
The dizzying vertigo made it impossible to see.
And the terrain was entirely steep mountain paths.
But the threat of the kidnappers catching up to her forced her to keep moving.
Raelynn shook her head to clear it.
Just as she lifted her foot, she slipped violently. Beside her was a steep drop-off leading to nowhere, perhaps straight off a cliff where her body would never be found.
Her heart nearly stopped.
She plunged into the darkness.
Raelynn turned her stiff neck to look at him sitting by the bed. She had no idea how long he had been there, but as she woke, she caught a rare glimpse of profound relief softening Ian's usually stern face.
"How long was I out?" Raelynn's voice was scratchy.
It was only now that her brain was functioning normally again, the deadly lethargy finally fading.
Ian checked his watch. "An hour and forty minutes. The doctor said the heavy dose of anesthesia caused temporary unconsciousness."
"Yeah, it was medical grade."
Raelynn pressed against the mattress and sat up.
She realized she was in an inpatient hospital room.
Honestly, she could have just rested in the ER and been fine, but they had booked her a private room.
"Where's Lily?" Her brain, sight, and senses had been completely wiped out by the drug earlier. Now that she was lucid, she panicked.
Ian plumped a pillow behind her back. "Lily is perfectly fine. Someone is watching her. The kidnappers only took you."
Raelynn let out a heavy sigh of relief.
If Ian said she was safe, she knew Lily was okay.
Ian poured her a glass of warm water and handed it over. "We haven't found the kidnappers yet. The massive dose of Sevoflurane paralyzed your nervous system for a long time. Most of it should be out of your system by now, but you still need to rest."

No, no, no! Sebastian needs to nip the Zella situation and win Raelynn back! Also, Leo, he is a wildcard for Sebastian's master plan... Sebastian- we know you know, what we know, win your family back!...
I thought now Sebastian and Raelynn will be together now that seraphina is not but you are not letting them to be. Two new female around Sebastian 😭...
I think Ian is sly. He is not what he seems. Sebastian loves Raelyn and they have a daughter together. Besides he has no family to even take care of him. I feel Raelyn should realise that Sebastian is only her true love and go back to him....
The croix family is evil...
