A deep frown automatically creased her forehead.
She quickly, yet discreetly, scanned Raelynn from head to toe.
There wasn't a single scratch on her.
She looked as though absolutely nothing had happened to her.
Not even a bruised knee.
How on earth did this woman have such sickeningly good luck?
"Why are you looking at me like that, Ms. Vance?" Catching that fleeting, calculating gaze, Raelynn didn't hesitate to call her out.
Seraphina hadn't expected Raelynn to address her directly.
Brushing past the comment, she took a seat. "Where's Mr. Moreno? Will he be joining us today?"
She ignored Raelynn's question.
And pivoted toward Mr. Zane instead.
Mr. Zane sensed the instantly hostile atmosphere, but his expression remained perfectly professional as he glanced between the two women. "I spoke with Mr. Moreno earlier. He's currently out of town on a business trip and has granted Ms. Ortiz full authority over this negotiation."
Seraphina didn't care either way.
As the upstream supplier, she held the high ground.
Even if her voting rights didn't outweigh Mr. Zane's and the other board members', she still had more than enough leverage to make Raelynn's life very difficult tonight.
Halfway through dinner.
Raelynn stepped out to take a call.
It was Preston Moreno, checking in on the progress.
Raelynn recalled Mr. Zane's cooperative attitude during the meal. Several times, Seraphina had raised objections to NexusMind's terms, only for Mr. Zane to smoothly override her, refusing to entertain her aggressive demands.
As a result, the negotiations were proceeding with shocking efficiency.
After all, Seraphina had only purchased a minority collection of retail shares; she didn't have the power to dictate terms on her own.
After ending the call, Raelynn walked into the restroom to wash her hands.
Just as she reached for a paper towel.
She spotted Seraphina walking in behind her.
Striding right up to the adjacent sink, Seraphina pulled out a lipstick and began touching up her makeup.
Raelynn didn't need to ask for clarification on what that meant.
She knew exactly what she was implying.
Taking a few menacing steps forward, Seraphina eagerly searched Raelynn's face for any sign of devastation. "Oh, I almost forgot. We actually bumped into you the very next day. You must have seen it. I just wanted to give you a friendly heads-up: Sebastian and I are a done deal."
The memory of that encounter at the hotel entrance suddenly flared in Raelynn's mind.
Seraphina in her elegant gown, that vivid, provocative hickey glaring on her chest.
What Raelynn hadn't expected was for Seraphina to corner her in a bathroom and explicitly brag about the depths of her physical relationship with Sebastian.
She stared evenly into Seraphina's flushed face. "Since you love sharing the intimate details of your sex life so much, maybe next time you can just sell me a ticket to the live show. It's a real shame to let all your hard work go to waste."
Seraphina's face warped in shock, her expression turning ugly with fury.
Tossing her crumpled paper towel into the trash.
Raelynn didn't waste another breath on her, brushing past the woman and walking out.
There was no humiliated rage. No heartbreak. No devastating emotional collapse.
Just a breezy, effortless dose of pure mockery.

I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
