But who could have guessed?
It was all for nothing.
She had inadvertently cleared the path for the real Yves heiress.
She had done all the dirty work, only for someone else to reap the rewards!
Blanche's face was ashen, her lips trembling as she tried to form words.
Seraphina sank onto the sofa, her eyes rimmed with red. "Without the Yves family name backing me, the Croix family—especially Matilda Croix—will never let me marry into their family."
It was as if every door she had ever tried to open was suddenly slammed in her face and deadbolted.
How could she not panic? How could she not be furious?
Seeing her daughter's despair, Blanche hurried over to comfort her. "Sebastian will figure something out. It's not like he fell for you just because you were an Yves heiress. No matter who you are, Mr. Croix has always been deeply devoted to you."
Those words offered Seraphina a sliver of hope.
She knew exactly what kind of man Sebastian was.
He was fiercely proud and exceptionally disciplined. He wasn't the type to let his affections be cheapened, and he certainly disdained men who were fickle or careless with women.
The typical flaws of ordinary men simply didn't exist in Sebastian.
"Sera, our only option now is for you to push Sebastian into marrying you. Do it before this scandal blows up. We need to secure your place before the Croix family catches wind of what happened with the Yves family. If this reaches the Matriarch, it's over."
Blanche's mind was racing.
The Yves family wouldn't leak the scandal immediately.
This was their final window of opportunity.
Seraphina forced herself to regain her composure.
She snatched up her phone.
Thinking back to Sebastian's attitude earlier that evening, she realized he hadn't defended her much. But she rationalized it—Dr. Hayes had been in a towering rage, and Sebastian likely just wanted to avoid adding fuel to the fire.
Right now, she desperately needed to hear his voice.
Ring— Ring— Ring—
But he didn't seem to notice.
"It's hard to say with these things," Sebastian replied smoothly. "Some people wanted you back in the Yves family, and others clearly didn't. There's more than one way things could have gone wrong."
His words made both Seraphina and Blanche freeze.
Then, a realization dawned on them.
He was right.
If they could swap the samples, someone else easily could have done the same...
But it was too late to point fingers. The Yves family wouldn't give her a second chance. She had been played.
A flash of pure hatred crossed Seraphina's eyes.
Was Raelynn's blood sample swapped too? By who? Sylvia?
She swallowed her venom and let out a soft, tearful plea. "Sebastian, someone must have framed me. I have nowhere left to go. Dr. Hayes is definitely going to ruin my career. You're all I have left... Will you still... marry me?"

No, no, no! Sebastian needs to nip the Zella situation and win Raelynn back! Also, Leo, he is a wildcard for Sebastian's master plan... Sebastian- we know you know, what we know, win your family back!...
I thought now Sebastian and Raelynn will be together now that seraphina is not but you are not letting them to be. Two new female around Sebastian 😭...
I think Ian is sly. He is not what he seems. Sebastian loves Raelyn and they have a daughter together. Besides he has no family to even take care of him. I feel Raelyn should realise that Sebastian is only her true love and go back to him....
