Eleanor's aggressive, disgusted rejection drew a collective gasp from the crowd.
To them, whether the video was totally accurate or not, Seraphina was the ultimate joke. Years ago, she had schemed like a parasite to latch onto the Tanners, ended up knocked up, and still got absolutely nothing.
And now she was being publicly humiliated and cast aside like dirt on their shoes.
Every inch of her filthy history had been exposed.
Seraphina bit down hard on her lip, staring at the sheer disgust on Eleanor's face. Every single word was a fatal stab!
They looked at her like she was a walking plague, something to be violently dodged!
"Doesn't the Vance family have a young boy? The age lines up perfectly. Did she really... dump her bastard kid on her parents to raise, while prancing around pretending to be a pure, untouched maiden?"
A middle-aged man in the crowd mocked loudly.
His observation snapped everything into place for the onlookers.
The glares zeroing in on her became exponentially more vicious and scornful.
An explosion went off in Seraphina's brain.
Her fingers dug painfully into the carpet.
She desperately wanted to flee.
But restrained by the security guards, her limbs were like jelly.
Regret began to eat at her.
She shouldn't have vehemently denied it earlier. She shouldn't have insisted in front of everyone that Sebastian was the father. If she hadn't, the Chairman wouldn't have publicly aired out her dark past just to expose her lie.
But now...
It was too late.
After tonight, she... would be the most infamous woman in Kingsford.
The very thought made her soul violently tremble.

"Did Mr. Tanner partake in some illegal substances there? He's definitely getting investigated for that, right?" someone in the crowd chimed in loudly, purely fueling the fire.
Like a drop of water in boiling oil.
It instantly triggered massive uproar.
Forrest shot an utterly emotionless look at his wife.
Matilda's face drained of color. Hearing Eleanor drag her into the mess, she immediately fired back, "I have no idea what you're talking about! No one forced anyone to break the law. What you should be doing right now is disciplining your own grandson!"
Eleanor clutched her chest in rage.
Theon looked crazed, ready to lunge at Sebastian.
But he was swiftly intercepted by security.
Sebastian lifted his eyes. "Seraphina recorded that video to blackmail you. It wasn't deleted, leading to today's exposure. Did you ever wonder why it was still sitting on her drive? She simply planned to use it as leverage against the Tanner family down the line. You were always just her fallback plan."
His razor-sharp words sent terror coursing through the crowd.
Seraphina slumped further into despair.

Sebastian had guessed her exact original motive.
Back when she had confronted Theon, she was already quite far along. She thought since the pregnancy was so advanced, he'd be forced to take responsibility. But she never imagined the man was a total psychopath.
He had just tossed out one sentence: "Either take the cash and abort it, or pop it out and raise it yourself. I won't claim a bastard. You could pop out ten of them and I wouldn't bat an eye. Do you have any idea how long the line of women trying to secure my wealth with a brat is? By tomorrow, I won't even remember your face."

I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
