It really was a stroke of luck.
When he first caught the discrepancy in the timeline, his suspicions had immediately flared.
Raelynn understood exactly what Sebastian meant.
There was no such thing as coincidences like that.
If her mother had willingly transferred the shop to Silas, he would never have needed to forge the documents. The forgery was entirely to steal the shop, and the very next day, her mother had a catastrophic accident.
She wasn't entirely sure how much Silas was directly involved in the hit.
But she knew Blanche was the one who had paid for the murder.
Raelynn took a deep breath, fully recognizing that Sebastian had indeed pulled the strings to expose the truth and found the critical breakthrough.
"Thanks," was all Raelynn could offer.
Sebastian didn't expect any grand repayment, nor was he trying to leverage the situation to claim credit or demand a reward.
He replied coldly, "It was on my way."
His indifferent, breezy attitude left no room for Raelynn to elaborate on her gratitude. Since he didn't care and wasn't trying to orchestrate an equal exchange of favors, Raelynn wasn't going to force herself to owe him anything.
They really had nothing left to say to one another.
Raelynn's emotions were in a chaotic flux, and she didn't have the energy to head to the shop to pick up her own car.
"Drop me off at Professor Finch's house, if it's not out of your way," she said directly.
"Yeah."
Sebastian smoothly changed directions.
For the rest of the drive, neither of them spoke a single word.
They were worse than strangers.
Fortunately, neither felt the awkwardness of the silence, as they were both lost in their own heavy thoughts.
On the way over, Raelynn sent an iMessage to Professor Alistair Finch, giving him a heads-up that she would arrive in about ten minutes.
He met Ian's gaze with chilling calm.
Ian's tone was incredibly steady, but the underlying implication was loud and clear. It was the kind of possessive phrasing only a partner or closest family member would use. He was asserting his dominant position in Raelynn's life, thanking Sebastian as if he were nothing more than a passing...
Outsider.
Standing on the opposite side of the luxury car, Sebastian's expression remained freezing cold from start to finish. "You're too polite, Mr. Hudson."
"It's only right." Ian casually checked his watch. "It's getting late, so I won't keep you any longer, Mr. Croix. Drive safe."
It was a display of flawless, suffocating politeness.
And Raelynn didn't see a single issue with it. Sebastian was a busy man anyway, and she had zero intention of inviting him inside. After all, Alistair already had his own personal grievances against Sebastian.
She simply echoed Ian's polite dismissal, "Drive safe."
Sebastian watched the scene unfold right in front of him.
Raelynn and Ian standing shoulder to shoulder, facing him together. They looked exactly like a happily married couple graciously seeing off a guest.

No, no, no! Sebastian needs to nip the Zella situation and win Raelynn back! Also, Leo, he is a wildcard for Sebastian's master plan... Sebastian- we know you know, what we know, win your family back!...
I thought now Sebastian and Raelynn will be together now that seraphina is not but you are not letting them to be. Two new female around Sebastian 😭...
I think Ian is sly. He is not what he seems. Sebastian loves Raelyn and they have a daughter together. Besides he has no family to even take care of him. I feel Raelyn should realise that Sebastian is only her true love and go back to him....
