Raelynn hated it most when Seraphina brought up Lily.
It disgusted her to the core. She knew exactly what was going through Seraphina's mind. For someone who used to be a golden girl, accustomed to having the world revolve around her, being reduced to a prisoner was a spectacular fall from grace. The sheer agony she was experiencing was obvious.
But...
"What does the life or death of you and your mother have to do with me?" Raelynn suppressed the urge to strike the shameless woman, her eyes icing over.
"My mother is still lying in the hospital, kept alive by IV fluids and machines. Why should the instigators get to enjoy so many years of a good life? Now, it's time you had your fill of it, isn't it?"
Seraphina looked terrified. "Raelynn! You're taking this too far! I have nothing left, what more do you want? I have a child to raise. You're a mother too—how can you be so vicious?"
"What about me back then?" Raelynn demanded sharply. "My mother had me back then too! Did your mother ever show any mercy? You lived the life of a pampered heiress built entirely on my mother's suffering. What gives you the right to shamelessly beg me for anything?"
Raelynn's words were sharp as daggers, each syllable a calculated strike.
Seraphina's face turned completely pale.
Raelynn clenched her fists. The emotional agony only made her more ruthlessly rational. She enunciated every single word, "No one does wrong without paying the price. I will pursue this to the very end. You better brace yourself for the fallout!"
She stepped around Seraphina, who was collapsed on the floor, and marched straight out the door.
Seraphina was utterly devastated.
Her mind was spinning in absolute chaos. What was she supposed to do now? How could she turn this around? How could she find even a second of breathing room?
-
Stepping outside, Raelynn realized that she had arrived in a police cruiser, which meant she needed to catch a cab back. The precinct was in a remote area, and she would have to walk over a mile just to find a ride.
She walked for a bit down the empty road.
Slowly, a Maybach pulled up beside her.
Seeing it still hanging there left her slightly uncertain. Was he unable to let go, or did he simply not care enough to throw away such a trivial item after they had a falling out?
Raelynn looked away and cut straight to the chase. "What exactly is going on with this investigation?"
Sebastian kept his eyes fixed on the road ahead. "I found out by chance."
"What do you mean?"
"Remember when I took over the antique shop from Silas Vance?" He glanced over at her. "He practically stole the Winslow shop from your mother using shady, under-the-table methods. He naturally had to forge a ton of official stamps and paperwork. When I first tried to acquire the place, he kept dragging his feet on handing over the documents because nothing was up to code. But later..."
He narrowed his eyes.
It was only when he forced Silas into that antique charity donation for Seraphina that the man had no choice but to push the paperwork through.
"He held onto that shop for years, dabbling in a lot of gray-area business and overseas channels. The shop's records were a mess. One thing led to another, and I discovered the exact timeline of his forged paperwork. The timestamps perfectly matched the day before your mother's accident. If he knew the shop was guaranteed to be his the day before, the authenticity of that car crash was naturally questionable."

No, no, no! Sebastian needs to nip the Zella situation and win Raelynn back! Also, Leo, he is a wildcard for Sebastian's master plan... Sebastian- we know you know, what we know, win your family back!...

I think Ian is sly. He is not what he seems. Sebastian loves Raelyn and they have a daughter together. Besides he has no family to even take care of him. I feel Raelyn should realise that Sebastian is only her true love and go back to him....
