"Do you know who that woman is?" Sylvia Dalton's throat felt bone-dry. "Rowan Ortiz. Lydia's best friend. The woman who hid Raelynn away and raised her after Lydia died."
Years ago, Rowan had been in an accident.
She fell into a deep coma.
After all these years, she was actually sitting up.
It was completely unbelievable.
Sierra watched Sylvia's expression morph into that of a startled deer.
A creeping sense of crisis sent a chill down her own spine.
Something was wrong.
Sylvia's reaction meant there was definitely more to the story with Rowan.
It most likely tied back to whatever happened to Lydia all those years ago.
Sierra's expression hardened. "What did you do?"
Her sharp instincts warned her that if she didn't take precautions, she would be dragged down with her.
But Sylvia just gritted her teeth. "Why did Rowan have to wake up now of all times? She was supposed to lie there forever. She should have just slowly stopped breathing and faded away in that hospital bed..."
She was too caught up in her own panic to answer Sierra's question.
An overwhelming sense of losing control sent her into a tailspin. Slowly, her normally delicate and gentle features twisted into something vicious.
Sierra saw the ugly shift in Sylvia's demeanor.
She turned on her heel and walked away.
Halfway down the path, she spotted a man approaching from the distance.
His tall, striking figure commanded attention the moment he appeared, drawing the lingering gazes of the socialite heiresses and prompting several men to eagerly step forward with greetings.
Sierra looked at Sebastian Croix.
Her eyes clung to him involuntarily, a persistent sense of unreality washing over her.
As Sebastian was about to walk past, Sierra finally couldn't hold back. "Mr. Croix, could we talk for a moment?"
She parted her lips.
Sebastian acted as if he hadn't even noticed her existence, or perhaps it was a display of blatant contempt.
He walked straight past her without so much as a sideways glance.
Rowan lifted a trembling hand to cup Raelynn's cheek. "Is this... the Yves estate?"
She glanced around the room, the memory of her earlier encounter with Dr. Evelyn Hayes coming back to her.
She also recalled everything Raelynn had told her during those long days by her hospital bed. She knew about Raelynn's true heritage now—that the Yves family had been searching for her for years and had finally welcomed her home.
"Yes." Raelynn was on the verge of happy tears. She hadn't expected this trip to the Yves estate to yield such incredible results, snapping her mother's consciousness back into focus. "They're hosting this for me today. Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
Rowan tried to speak.
But suddenly, her gaze sharpened into something fierce.
Her breath shuddered as her features pulled taut. "Sunny, I need to see Chairwoman Hayes. And Quentin Yves!"
The face she had brushed past earlier was burned into her mind, aggressively tugging at her memories.
It left Rowan looking grim and sickly pale.
Raelynn hadn't anticipated her mother's sudden spike in agitation.
She quickly tried to soothe her. "Mom, please don't get worked up. I'll call them over."
Checking the time, Raelynn made a swift decision. "I'll wheel you to the main hall right now. They should all be in the front courtyard."

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
