Rowan nodded.
Raelynn navigated the wheelchair carefully, sticking to the smooth, paved paths.
The moment they exited the room.
Sylvia stepped slowly out from the shadows of a corner. She was deathly pale, her tightly clenched fists shaking. What exactly did Rowan want to say to Dr. Hayes and Quentin? What on earth did she know?
A frantic panic seized Sylvia.
Digging her nails into her palms, she quickly turned and took a shortcut toward the main hall.
-
Raelynn brought Rowan into the hall and gently touched her hand, finding it frighteningly cold.
Worried that the chill would make her frail mother sick, she murmured, "Mom, Grandma Hayes will be here in a second. Wait right here, I'm going to grab you a hand warmer."
Lost in her own turbulent thoughts, Rowan gave an absentminded nod.
Just as Raelynn was about to leave, she spotted Dr. Hayes walking toward them from a distance. Satisfied, she headed out through the main doors.
As soon as she stepped outside.
Caught off guard, she collided squarely with a solid chest.
She stumbled backward.
A strong arm wrapped securely around her waist.
Raelynn looked up.
And met Sebastian's deep, fathomless gaze.
He looked down at her. "Where are you rushing off to?"
Feeling self-conscious, Raelynn patted his arm away and took a step back. "My mom's cold. I was going to fetch a hand warmer."
Sebastian shifted his gaze toward the interior of the hall.
Just in time to see Dr. Hayes enter through a side door and make her way over to Rowan.
"I'll have someone grab it for you. Stay by her side. Don't leave her."
Raelynn gave him a suspicious look. "Oh, thanks. But why?"
Though Rowan needed care, she was lucid now. It wasn't as if she required round-the-clock monitoring every second.
Sebastian's eyelashes lowered slightly. "Blanche was the one behind the car accident years ago. She may be out of her mind, but the true motive that drove her to hire a hitman to kill your adoptive mother... there might still be secrets buried there."
A heavy shock reverberated through Raelynn's chest.
She looked up, holding his gaze.
They stood in silence for a long moment.
Alarm bells blared in Raelynn's mind. It suddenly hit her—Rowan had been best friends with her biological mother, Lydia, and Blanche knew them both...
But the very next second.
Snap!
The remaining bolts ripped completely free.
The colossal crystal chandelier plummeted.
Sebastian shoved Rowan's wheelchair out of the drop zone with explosive force. The momentum carried him forward, but not fast enough. The jagged edge of the chandelier scraped against his left shoulder, smashing into him with enough sheer kinetic force to drive him down onto one knee.
On the other side.
Raelynn's reflexes kicked in. Trusting Sebastian with her mother, she bolted straight for Dr. Hayes.
But just as her fingers grazed the older woman's arm.
Another figure dashed forward, deliberately shoving her out of the way.
The heavy shove sent Raelynn crashing hard against the floor.
Sierra lunged at Dr. Hayes, pushing her clear of the danger zone. "Grandma, look out!"
A split second later.
Sierra was crushed under the falling glass, the debris raining down on her head and back.
She collapsed into a rapidly expanding pool of blood...

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
