She shot a glance at the fresh bandages visible on Sebastian's shoulder.
And finally wrapped her arms around his jacket.
Of course.
The absurdly expensive fabric was bound to suffer. Keeping her head down, she began mindlessly picking at the gemstone cufflinks on his sleeves, channeling all her anxious energy into the small stones.
Sierra's surgery lasted for three grueling hours.
Sylvia refused to leave the waiting area, and no one had the authority to forcibly remove her.
Sierra woke up shortly after being transferred to recovery.
Everyone sat in their respective corners in total silence.
The atmosphere was heavy and suffocating.
The moment Sierra opened her eyes, her first words were, "Where's Grandma? Is Grandma okay?"
Dr. Hayes looked over. Keeping her expression carefully blank, she walked to the bedside. "I'm fine."
Tears instantly spilled from Sierra's eyes. "Thank goodness you're alright. I kept having nightmares that I couldn't reach you in time. I'm so glad it wasn't real..."
Raelynn listened with a frigid stare.
A mocking smirk silently curled the corner of her mouth.
Staring at Sierra's pale, frail face and hearing the genuine-sounding concern, Dr. Hayes ultimately held her tongue.
Even Julian looked thoroughly displeased.
After all.
Sierra had literally thrown herself into harm's way to save the matriarch of the family. She had just undergone major surgery. No matter what shady things she had done in the past, how could anyone point fingers at her now?
He sneered internally.
The Yves family was incredibly relieved that Dr. Hayes was safe.
But Julian wasn't an idiot.
Whether Sierra's heroics were a calculated move to secure her own position in the family was something he could see right through.
"Do you have any idea who your biological parents are?" Dr. Hayes asked, casting a glacial glare at the quietly weeping Sylvia.
Confusion clouded Sierra's eyes. "My biological parents? I have no idea. I've never even tried to look for them. The Yves family saved my life. You're the only family I've ever acknowledged."
She acted as if she were completely in the dark.
Just another innocent victim of Sylvia's web of lies.
"So, you claim you know absolutely nothing," Julian's voice was frigid.
Sierra tore her gaze away from Sylvia and looked at Julian. "Julian, what are you talking about?"
The girl looked utterly lost and bewildered.
A scoff of pure mockery slipped from Raelynn's lips.
She could already see how this would play out. Sierra had just saved Dr. Hayes's life. If the Yves family still threw her out now, they would look like heartless monsters.
"Is that so?"
Suddenly.
Sebastian, lounging on the sofa with his long legs crossed, spoke up at a leisurely pace.
He flicked the lid of his lighter with a long, elegant finger.
His pitch-black eyes fixed heavily on Sierra.
For absolutely no reason, Sierra's chest seized. Whether it was from her injuries or the oppressive weight of his stare, a violent shudder wracked her body.
But Sebastian smoothly shifted his gaze, leveling it at Sylvia and Quentin instead.
"Simply cutting ties between the two of you," he remarked with deadly casualness, "seems far from sufficient."

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
