Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 880

"Your relentless persistence is certainly a headache, Mr. Hudson."

Raelynn whipped her head around in disbelief. Standing just a few yards away was a man draped in a sharply tailored, dark winter coat that accentuated his towering frame. The freezing night air seemed to make his chiseled, striking features look even paler.

Sebastian walked toward them with slow, measured steps.

Ian shot him a predatory glare. "What the hell are you doing here?"

Sebastian met his stare with infuriating calm. "Raelynn's mother invited me for the holiday dinner. Why? Did you just show up uninvited?"

Ian's jaw tightened.

Raelynn instinctively glanced up at her apartment window.

At some point, Rowan must have exchanged contact information with Sebastian. Since her mother was completely unaware of their divorce, it was perfectly normal for her to invite her 'son-in-law' over for the holidays.

"Here are the gifts and the red envelope for Lily. Please give them to her for me. I'll come find you after the holidays."

Ian had no intention of getting into a pissing match with Sebastian.

He shoved the gifts into Raelynn's hands.

And he made it explicitly clear that he wasn't backing off.

This time, Sebastian didn't intervene.

Raelynn couldn't bring herself to refuse them, either. They were meant for Lily, and since Ian had played the role of her father for years, she had no right to reject them on her daughter's behalf.

She accepted the bags.

"Drive safe," she told him.

Ian gave a low grunt of acknowledgment.

Raelynn turned on her heel and headed toward the building, completely ignoring Sebastian.

Sebastian gave Ian one last dismissive look and paused his steps. "If you think you can manipulate her with guilt, slowly boiling the frog to win back her trust, I suggest you save your breath. Once she makes up her mind, a team of horses couldn't drag her back. You've already destroyed every ounce of trust and every chance you ever had with her."

Ian let out a dark scoff. "You love her to death, yet you're just as much a part of her past as I am. What makes you think you're any different?"

Sebastian stopped.

He looked back over his shoulder, a faint, devastating smirk playing on his lips. "There is a difference."

"We share a daughter. I will exist in her life until the day she dies."

"Just pretend I wanted to see Lily," he countered.

That immediately reminded Raelynn of his impending departure. The father and daughter did need a proper goodbye.

"I heard you're moving to Europe. For how long?"

"Why? Are you going to miss me?" he asked, his voice dropping into a smooth, deliberate cadence.

Raelynn instantly took a step away from him, regretting she had even asked.

The elevator dinged.

As the doors slid open, Lily was standing on a step stool right inside the doorway, carefully adjusting a festive decoration. Hearing the noise, she turned around. "Mama, you—"

Then she spotted Sebastian.

Lily instantly puffed out her cheeks and said crisply, "Mister."

Raelynn knew perfectly well that Lily was a brilliant little girl who absolutely held grudges. She fully knew he was her real father, yet she stubbornly refused to give him the title.

That single word—'Mister'—was a masterclass in twisting the knife.
