Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 885

Sebastian's words cut through the chaotic room, bone-chilling and sharp.

Forrest snapped his head up.

Catching the crucial piece of information, his sharp eyes darted toward his wife, whose face had instantly changed.

Tristan's lips pressed into a thin line as he met his older cousin's gaze. "What are you trying to say?"

"Sebastian, are you misunderstanding something?" Matilda's cheeks were trembling, whether from anger or shock, it was hard to tell. "How could you think that about what happened back then?"

Sebastian gave her a faint look.

"Do you want me to produce the evidence, or do you want me to skip straight to how I'm going to handle this?"

That simple question, though spoken with absolute calm, drained the color from Matilda's face. She stared at his strikingly handsome features in sheer terror.

Even her breathing shuddered.

How could Sebastian possibly...

How could he know what happened that night, all those years ago?

So many years had passed. The evidence should have vanished entirely. Unless he had found out something back then. But if he had, he hadn't shown a single trace of knowing it all these years...

A cold shiver ran down Matilda's spine.

She looked at her own grandson with creeping dread.

"What exactly happened between you and Raelynn?" Forrest fought down his fury, shooting a freezing glare at Matilda before finally turning back to Sebastian.

Sebastian let out a faint, dismissive scoff.

"Raelynn and I have to thank the Matriarch. She was so worried about my romantic prospects that she went out of her way to arrange a wife I couldn't refuse. She used drugs to publicly tie Raelynn and me together, trampling over and ruining a girl's reputation, all to..."

But there was an unsettling, almost unhinged quality to his amusement.

Matilda's lips trembled. "What... what do you mean?"

"Do you want me to summon everyone involved in the incident for questioning? Or would you prefer me to make a public statement that this was just another one of Tristan's schemes to seize power and frame his older brother?"

Sebastian's words pointed the blade squarely at Tristan, causing Matilda's face to change dramatically. After several shifting expressions, not wanting Sebastian to completely lose his mind and drag Tristan down with him, her pale face crumbled. "So you knew everything all along... yet you pretended everything was perfectly fine for all these years. You really know how to play the long game."

Panting heavily, she finally dropped the act. "So what if I did?! Did Raelynn deserve him? Did she have any right to fantasize about Tristan? She actually had the nerve to secretly keep the jade pendant your grandfather gave him. Her feelings for him would have just dragged him down! If he developed feelings for her, how could he possibly compete? Without a powerful wife's family backing him, how was he supposed to fight you? You were born a prodigy and took away so much from him already. What's wrong with me helping him get rid of a delusional, unqualified woman?"

Tristan was the son of her beloved youngest son.

Her youngest son had suffered a terrible fate, passing away too early. What was wrong with her doting on Tristan?

Sebastian already had everything—everyone's expectations, the title of a genius. He could earn whatever he wanted on his own. But Tristan was different. If she, as his grandmother, didn't plot and scheme for him, how could he ever stand a chance against Sebastian in the Croix family?
