Cordelia practically lunged forward. Her normally cold, calculating face collapsed into absolute terror. The dark history she had buried deep in her mind violently tore its way to the surface, ravaging her composure.
Her voice shrilled with panic. "Sebastian, what are you trying to do?"
Sebastian looked at her, offering a faint, merciless smile. "It seems you haven't forgotten either, Mrs. Hudson. I suppose you must feel a shred of guilt deep down."
All the blood vanished from Cordelia's lips.
Sebastian knew... He had actually uncovered it.
"Sebastian!" Ian grabbed his arm, gripping it so hard it felt like he was trying to shatter the bone. His breathing was heavy and erratic. "Did you tell Raelynn?"
Watching a man as strictly composed as Ian completely lose his mind.
Deepened the vicious smirk on Sebastian's lips.
Though his eyes remained devoid of warmth.
He easily deflected Ian's grip. "Mrs. Hudson and Raelynn's mother, Lydia, were like the twin stars of the business world back then. Mentors and friends. On the day Lydia died, she was competing against you for a massive project, wasn't she?"
Cordelia's breathing hitched.
Sebastian lowered his gaze. "In fact, when she drowned in that lake, you were right there."
"I didn't kill her!" The crushing weight of her buried secrets utterly obliterated Cordelia's rationality. Her eyes were bloodshot as she glared at him. "Are you trying to say I murdered her? What do you know! You don't know anything!"
"I never said you murdered her. Why are you so defensive, Mrs. Hudson?" Sebastian turned his back, his voice dripping with frost. "It's your own conscience tearing you apart. You believe you killed her, but you're too much of a coward to admit it."
"You..." Cordelia's eyes widened in horror.
"Enough!" Ian grabbed Sebastian by the tie. "Sebastian, if you're planning to weaponize this, then we have nothing left to say."
Sebastian looked at him indifferently.
"What are you so afraid of?"
"Afraid I'll tell the truth? Mrs. Hudson was terrified of Lydia back then. She envied her, admired her. Lydia was a natural at this game, while you had to scheme and claw your way up just to keep pace with her. You only won that project because Lydia drowned and missed the meeting. That deal secured your foothold in the Hudson family. It gave you the power to run the household and made you a corporate legend overnight."
"If she hadn't died, Mrs. Hudson, could you have beaten her?"
Sebastian's words slashed like scalpels.
She chose to go steal the deal first. She thought, *Just hold on for twenty minutes, just twenty minutes.*
But she was wrong.
Lydia didn't make it.
Lydia was a strong swimmer. She was incredibly capable. Why did she just die there?
Cordelia had genuinely believed Lydia would just climb out on her own...
"I didn't mean to... I didn't want her to die..."
She hadn't done it on purpose!
Cordelia staggered, barely able to stay on her feet. She genuinely cared for Lydia. Even if she feared her, she worshipped her brilliance. All she wanted was to secure her own throne in the Hudson family.
Why did Lydia just let herself drown that day?
"She was murdered. Injected with a hallucinogen that destroyed her cognitive function. She physically couldn't get out." Sebastian's voice was colder than the dead of winter.

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
