Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 586

Giselle froze for a moment at the brutal scene. Her heart stopped for a moment.

"Run!" Donovan shouted at her with all his might.

"No."

She looked at him—blood all over his mouth, wounds across his body—and she couldn't bring herself to flee alone.

"Run! You must run! If you don't, we'll both die!" he shouted, clinging desperately to Teddy's legs.

Teddy couldn't break free and, enraged and humiliated, pounded Donovan on the head viciously.

He was right. If she didn't run, they would both die.

After an agonizing debate, she turned and fled toward the fishing boat, running as fast as she could, terrified she might collapse from illness before she reached it.

At the same time, the second thug—wounded by Donovan—dragged himself after her but couldn't run fast due to his injuries.

Donovan, somehow finding strength he didn't know existed, held Teddy by his legs fast. Even if he was about to be beaten to death, he would use his last breath to buy Giselle time to escape.

Fortunately, Giselle quickly hopped on the boat that the fishermen had moored on the shore.

What was better, she knew how to handle those diesel-powered fishing boats. By the time the second thug reached the shoreline, she'd already started the engine and was pulling away.

Once clear of the dock, she glanced back and saw Donovan being kicked to the ground by Teddy, who was raining merciless blows and kicks on him.

Donovan's face was smeared with blood.

Tears streamed down her face at that desperate sight. Her heart felt as if it were being torn apart, and her whole body shook uncontrollably. Still, she had to open the throttle and speed away from the island along the return route.

By the time she finally reached the pier, several uniformed police officers were already there discussing their plan of action, but it seemed they still didn't know exactly which island it was.

Giselle got out of the fishing boat, looking pale and limp. She could barely stand. "Hurry up and save him! He's over there… on that island…"

Speaking in Edevanian in a shaky voice, she pointed at the island that was barely visible.

"Please bring medical staff with you. He might be gravely injured," she pleaded.

The police proceeded to call the hospital and secured some boats. They were not in a hurry, possibly because Giselle looked like a foreigner. Besides, she had successfully returned, didn't she? Therefore, they underestimated the seriousness of the situation.

Giselle, who had no clue about local politics, couldn't be sure if the police were in cahoots with the three thugs. She had no choice but to immediately call Ethan, who was back home.

Ethan picked up in no time.
