Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 619

Giselle had barely taken a few steps when Renee rushed forward and stood in her way. "Giselle, wait, just hear me out! I know I did a lot of terrible things to you in the past. I admit it, I was wrong!

"I can apologize, and I'll make it up to you however you want. Please, as long as you agree to this one thing, I will even drop to my knees right here if you want me to!"

After hearing that, Giselle stopped in her tracks and stared at Renee. Renee no longer carried the sharp, calculating look she used to. Her face was drained of everything except grief, despair, and exhaustion. She looked as though she was on the verge of breaking down.

It made sense, though. Within a single year, her son had died, and her daughter had vanished without a trace. No mother could endure such a devastating blow.

No matter how ruthless or powerful she used to be, no matter how successful she was in the business world, no one could withstand the pain of losing their own children. Hence, this time, standing before Giselle, who had been given a third chance at life, Renee didn't even have the strength to lash out at her anymore. In fact, she couldn't even feel anger.

"Giselle, I've never begged anyone in my life, but I genuinely need your help," Renee sobbed. "I am just a pitiful old woman who has lost her children. I have nothing left. I brought this on myself, and I deserve it.

"I'll agree to whatever you ask of me. Please help me just this once!"

Giselle didn't feel touched when she heard that. On the contrary, her mind drifted back to more than 20 years ago, to the fear she'd felt as a child, looking at her mother's crushed and disfigured body after the fall. Later, she remembered the pain of seeing her grandparents' lifeless, bloodied bodies after the car crash.

After settling into them, Giselle said, "Let's get one thing straight. Anne's disappearance has nothing to do with Donovan. I'm the only one who knows where she is."

Renee's heart nearly burst out of her chest. "Seriously? You… know where Anne is? Tell me! Is she still alive? Hurry up and tell me!"

"Can you hold it together for a second?" Giselle didn't want Renee's meltdown to mess with her mood and trigger her epilepsy. Her expression was calm as she said, "I can tell you where she is, but only if you agree to three conditions."

"Alright!" Renee agreed without the slightest hesitation. "So long as you help me find Anne, I'll agree to anything!"
