Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 730

When the car hit the speed bump at high speed, the kissing couple in the back was violently jolted apart. They literally bounced in their seats.

Although Giselle was physically fine, the sudden shock broke her out in a cold sweat.

Once Donovan regained his balance, he stared directly at the driver's seat. He demanded in a cold voice, "What kind of driving was that?"

"Apologies." Chris slowed the car down until the ride was smooth again.

He kept his voice low and apologetic. "I wasn't paying attention to the road ahead. I was going a bit too fast."

"That is not a mistake you usually make," Donovan scolded.

To him, Chris was always cautious and meticulous. He handled details well, and his driving was usually smooth. Dangerous moments were virtually non-existent with him.

Speeding over a bump like that was definitely out of character. It was especially concerning since Giselle was pregnant. As a bodyguard, Chris should have been more attentive.

"I am sorry." Chris offered no further explanation. He simply apologized again with an expressionless look.

"It's fine," Giselle whispered to Donovan, seeing that no harm was done. "Everyone has lapses in judgment. I miss things like that all the time when I drive. Don't make a mountain out of a molehill."

She figured Chris had probably seen their intimate moment in the rearview mirror. The awkwardness likely caused his distraction.

In the end, she felt it was partly her fault.

After a few reprimands, Donovan let it go. It was a minor incident after all.

As her personal bodyguard and assistant, Chris held a high status in the company. However, he kept a low profile and always treated the staff with respect. Combined with his genuine competence, he was highly regarded within the company. People were always willing to cooperate with him.

This morning, however, Giselle noticed he seemed unsettled. His mind appeared to be elsewhere.

While they were in the office, Giselle asked him casually, "Is something on your mind?"

Chris froze for a split second but quickly recovered his usual composure. "No."

"We know each other well enough by now. Just say it." Giselle thought for a moment. "Is this about the speed bump incident last night? Don't take Mr. Kane's words to heart. He was just venting in the moment."

"It isn't that," Chris denied again.
