Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 771

Giselle merely sneered after listening to Renee's same old song and dance.

Still, she was pregnant right now. So, she didn't want to risk her pregnancy by arguing with Renee or listening to her wailing.

So, she responded calmly, "Is there a point in you telling me all of this, Renee? Do you seriously think that Anne's been taken into custody due to petty theft? Have you forgotten that she's been arrested for committing a serious crime?

"We can't just drop our charges against her just because you've come here begging for it. Besides, she brought this on herself. How are her affairs any of our business?"

Giselle scoffed at Renee in contempt. "You might as well face the music now that the verdict's out. Then again, you and Tony could also hire yourself a famous lawyer to get her a retrial. Honestly, I don't care what you do. Just stop bothering me and get lost!"

There was no way Renee would give up so easily. She pleaded through choked sobs, "Giselle, you've always wanted to see me end up in jail, haven't you? I already said I'll turn myself in in exchange—"

"Do you take me for an idiot?" Giselle felt her throat constrict at the thought of her deceased grandparents and mother.

"Do you really think you'd get the death penalty after turning yourself in? Frankly, you might as well kill yourself right in front of me to show your sincerity. If you do, I might just consider putting a few good words in for your darling Anne!"

"Fine," Renee's eyes shone with humiliation as she spat. "I'll do as you wish as long as you and Donovan agree to let Anne off the hook."

At this point, Giselle couldn't help but feel that the screws holding Renee's mind together were getting looser by the second. So, she had no desire to spare her another second. "Renee, I'll say this one last time. Anne's case has nothing to do with us. Kindly get out of my face."

"Giselle, how could you be so heartless?"

Renee looked at her with red-rimmed eyes as she tried to play the pity card once more. "You're about to be a mother yourself. Think about your baby! Consider your act of helping Anne as you earning some good karma for your baby.

"Fine… Fine!" Renee's face was a mess of tears and snot. Still, the malice in her smile shone through. "Giselle, you're a cruel, cruel girl. Your heart is as black as pitch!"

"If we're going to compare notes, I have to admit that I'm not even close to what you could do, Renee."

Giselle ground out, "If I were, Anne wouldn't just be doing 20 years. Instead, she'd be six feet underground. You should be grateful that she's still darkening the mortal plane with her presence. This way, you could still visit her in prison.

"Who knows? If you're lucky, you might even live to see her celebrate your 80th birthday with you if you spend all your wealth on charity."

"You bitch!" The thread that had been holding Renee together finally snapped. She immediately began to curse at Giselle, "Go on and celebrate your triumph while you still can, you vicious little monster! You'd better live long and well just to feel that bastard rot in your belly!

"And even if it does survive, I hope its days alive would be short and painful! And when it dies, I curse you to never have the chance to be a mother ever again!"
