Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 773

"Delete it. Now," Giselle said as soon as she snapped back to her senses.

"All done," Chris replied.

He fiddled with Renee's phone for a bit longer before handing it to Giselle. "You should check it just in case."

She went over the files on Renee's phone over and over again. She only handed it back to him once she was certain that they were in the clear. "Give it back to her!"

Renee could only glare at Chris in resentment when he tossed the phone back to her.

It was obvious that she had no idea what had happened between him and Anne. All she knew was that he was some kind of bodyguard-assistant figure in this villa.

Still, she had been caught red-handed, and she could no longer raise a fuss after all that. In the end, she had no choice but to grit her teeth and get into the car before growling at the driver to step on it.

In the meantime, Giselle nearly sagged against the wall when she thought of what had just happened.

"Thank God you were here." Giselle shot Chris a look filled with relief and gratitude. "I can't even imagine what kind of disaster would've happened if you weren't."

Chris wasn't the least bit fazed.

He had assumed that the detained Anne would have her lawyer or someone else inform Renee about his real identity. Then, Renee would blab about it to Giselle.

However, Anne hadn't done that.

Still, that was a close call. So, Chris couldn't find it in himself to relax, not with the ticking time bomb that was Anne Holt—still alive and relatively well.

"Chris, are you okay?"

"Okay." Chris couldn't help but give Giselle a long look. "Are you hurt anywhere? Do you want me to take you to the hospital for a checkup?"

"No, I'm totally fine."

"Alright." Chris nodded. Then, he said, "Mr. Kane instructed me to grab some documents from his study. I'll be off."

"Go on, then."

Giselle had spent more than half a year with Chris as one of her bodyguards. It definitely didn't help that those six months were very… eventful. So, she couldn't help but consider him as family or even a close friend.

It had gotten to a point where she couldn't help but marvel at how it seemed as though they were destined to meet.
