Another month passed without incident, and Giselle was now eight months along.
Her mobility was limited due to her pregnancy. As a result, she spent most of her time at home resting and waiting for the birth. Thus, Donovan had to manage all Sweetson Pharmaceuticals affairs while she was indisposed. At the same time, Chris had been spending most of his time working by Donovan's side.
Fortunately, Giselle's prenatal checkups over the past few months had gone smoothly. So far, the checkups revealed that the baby was as healthy as a horse.
Although she was eight months pregnant, she was only a bit chubbier than before. Her skin remained as flawless as ever, showing not even a sliver of stretch marks marring her skin. Nevertheless, being a pregnant woman was still exhausting.
On the other hand, Donovan was far more nervous than she was. He had long contacted the top obstetricians, arranged a full medical team to be on standby, and even had his subordinates look into several postpartum care centers just in case.
He had even canceled all his overseas business trips for these two months. He would return home as early as he could to accompany Giselle for a stroll. As night fell, he would help her bathe and massage her swollen legs.
He would also put his phone aside to prevent exposing Giselle to radiation during her pregnancy. He would flip through parenting books with her, throw out baby names, and discuss just what maternity and baby products they needed to purchase.
Now that everything was smooth sailing and Anne was arrested, Giselle had assumed that she was now finally getting the peace she wanted. Thus, she was eager to embrace the new chapter of her life. She never expected the wrench that would come hurtling her way.
That night, she got up to use the bathroom as per usual. Pregnancy meant having a baby sitting on her bladder. As a result, she had no choice but to waddle to the bathroom time and time again. It was extra tedious that night, so much so that she couldn't fall asleep even though it was already about one or two o'clock in the morning.
Donovan was fast asleep after having to sit through a whole day's worth of meetings.
Just then, she heard the phone he had left charging on the nightstand chime. She recognized the sound. He had gotten a notification from WhatsApp.
Who would be messaging him at this hour? Could it be one of his overseas clients?
