Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 775

Giselle finally recalled who that Serican-looking man was. He was the boss of that hellhole she'd been sold to years ago. He was that Malithornian at Gold Delta. What was his name again?

Her memory wasn't what it used to be due to her epilepsy. So, she had to rifle through her brain for ages before she managed to piece a name with that face. That man was none other than Orin Sontara!

Still, she could remember the day she'd made her grand escape. She had fled to the woods when he'd caught up to her. When he did, she didn't hesitate to fire at him, killing him right then and there.

Yet, why was a group picture with him here, in the middle of Donovan's chat history with Peter?

Giselle quickly snapped out of her fright as she picked up the phone and scrolled through Donovan's chat history with Peter. Cold sweat trickled down her spine as her panic-filled eyes landed on the conversation.

It turned out that Donovan had asked his friend from Usna, Peter, to look into Chris' military history as a member of Usna Special Forces months ago. When Peter got confirmation that Chris was the real deal, he then sent Donovan a photo of Chris prior to his plastic surgery.

In other words, Chris Thompson was actually Orin Sontara.

Giselle couldn't believe it. She kept telling herself that the man in the photo just happened to look like Orin, that her eyes were playing tricks on her. The unfortunate resemblance was probably due to the angle and the lighting in which the picture was taken.

Yet, she couldn't keep lying to herself. As she studied the photograph, those distinct Serican features surged to the surface, unmistakable in a sea of Usnan faces.

The longer she looked, the more anxious she became. Her memory of Orin also became clearer and clearer.

The pain she'd suffered in the Gold Delta had been carved into her marrow. It didn't matter that she was trying her hardest to put the past behind her. It didn't matter that she'd suffered a traumatic brain injury after the fact.

All she had to do was recall a scene related to that, and it would all come rushing back to her like a tsunami of nightmares.

Only then did she recall that she'd gotten a strange sense of déjà vu when she'd first laid her eyes on Chris. She'd found his eyes oddly familiar then.

Her heart raced at that realization. She didn't dare dwell on that thought.

Right now, she couldn't rely on a single picture to be completely certain that Chris was Orin. So, she couldn't help but nudge Donovan, who was still deeply asleep. She wanted to tell him her discovery immediately.

However, Donovan had been pushing himself to his limits recently. So, he slept like a log. He could barely leave sleep's grasp when she nudged him. Instead, all he did was slur groggily, "Darling… what's… wrong?"

She couldn't bring herself to wake him when he was so exhausted, especially not when she wasn't even sure about something so serious. So, she said nothing and let him return to his slumber, deciding to talk to him about her discovery in the morning.

Honestly, she'd never really opened up to Donovan after she'd fled Gold Delta. She also didn't feel like telling him the nitty-gritty details that had gone down back then. Hence, she'd never once mentioned Orin and what had happened between them.
