Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 819

"I'll ask you one more time. Are you going to transfer the money to me right now?" Chris suddenly seemed like a different person, his entire demeanor turning dangerous.

"W-What do you mean?" Giselle felt a chill creep up her spine under his stare.

"Nora," he still called her by that name meant only for her, "I told you, I'm out of time. I won't go to the police. I just want the money. If you don't agree, then don't blame me for being ruthless…"

"What exactly are you trying to do?"

Sensing the extreme tension in his words, Giselle's heartbeat sped up. "I'm warning you, Orin, don't do anything reckless! I told you I can help you, but I need your honesty! If it were just a few million, I could transfer it to you right now—"

"So you're refusing to help me. All that talk is nothing more than an excuse to stall for time?"

As he said this, Chris stepped even closer to her. He was ready to risk everything.

He stared at her intensely and rasped, "I might as well tell you this. I have all of Donovan's dirty secrets in my hands—including the key evidence of when he had Anne incarcerated back then… If you don't want anything to happen to him, transfer one hundred million dollars to me within two days!"

Giselle's heart clenched, her face turning deathly pale in an instant.

"Y-You—" Overwhelmed with panic, her throat tightened. "Are you serious? Do you even realize what you're saying? Are you threatening me?"

"Yeah." Having already gone this far, he no longer bothered to soften his words. There was no trace of warmth left in his eyes anymore. "You know me so well. You should know I'm not just trying to scare you."

Giselle did her best to steady herself. "Orin, do you really have to force me like this? Is there really no better way? Honestly, I was no longer so determined to make you leave after seeing your loyalty to Donovan. But do you know how serious it is to say something like this all of a sudden?"

"I'm a man of my word," he pledged with unwavering resolve. "All I want now is money. If you transfer it and keep this a secret—never mentioning it to him for as long as you live—I will vanish from your world completely! I can swear to you on my son's life—"

"No need." Giselle just had a child herself. Hearing him swear on his son left her with complicated feelings, and she could hear the resolve in his voice.

She continued, "This is a huge sum. Doing it online is a hassle, and I can't go out right now. Go back first. Send me your account details, and I'll have the company's finance department handle the bank transfer tomorrow."

Seeing that she finally agreed, Chris felt as though he had grasped a lifeline at last. His anger eased a lot, and he even managed to thank her.

"You should leave now."
