Chris told Donovan that he went by three different names. In Valanthea, he was Chris Thompson—the name his late wife had given him. In Malithorn, he was Orin Sontara, a name given by his birth mother. In Usna, he was Jensen Whittaker.

He was born over 30 years ago in Malithorn. His mother was Malithornian, and his father was from Nihoro. That made him of mixed heritage.

However, his Nihoroan father was a married man. He abandoned them a few years later to return to his home country. Chris' mother eventually remarried a local man and had more children.

Chris became the unwanted extra in that new family.

His stepfather kicked him out of the house when he was 15 because of his rebellious nature. A gang boss took him in while he was living on the streets. The boss sent him to train with anti-government armed forces in the Gold Delta.

He learned how to use knives and guns at a young age in that unit. He mastered the art of survival in bloody environments and learned how to be ruthless toward his enemies.

Later, he performed well enough to catch the eye of an officer from Usna. The officer appreciated his skills and brought him to the military for development.

He trained in the Usna Special Forces for a few years before working as a mercenary in Auraelia for another two.

Chris eventually grew tired of living on the edge with no sense of accomplishment. A friend introduced him to the drug trade in Solmara where he became a prominent figure in the underworld.

He traveled between Usna and Auraelia for several years. That was when he met a woman named Audrey Maxwell.

They started as casual partners. He had no interest in romance at the time. However, Audrey never left his side through all the ups and downs. She even saved his life during a critical moment.

He gradually fell for her.
