Chris told Donovan that he went by three different names. In Valanthea, he was Chris Thompson—the name his late wife had given him. In Malithorn, he was Orin Sontara, a name given by his birth mother. In Usna, he was Jensen Whittaker.

He was born over 30 years ago in Malithorn. His mother was Malithornian, and his father was from Nihoro. That made him of mixed heritage.

However, his Nihoroan father was a married man. He abandoned them a few years later to return to his home country. Chris' mother eventually remarried a local man and had more children.

Chris became the unwanted extra in that new family.

He trained in the Usna Special Forces for a few years before working as a mercenary in Auraelia for another two.

Chris eventually grew tired of living on the edge with no sense of accomplishment. A friend introduced him to the drug trade in Solmara where he became a prominent figure in the underworld.

He traveled between Usna and Auraelia for several years. That was when he met a woman named Audrey Maxwell.

They started as casual partners. He had no interest in romance at the time. However, Audrey never left his side through all the ups and downs. She even saved his life during a critical moment.

He gradually fell for her.

Audrey committed suicide after losing two children in such horrific ways. Chris fell into a deep depression and lived in regret like a walking corpse.

He lost all hope, and his heart turned to stone from that point on. He felt fate was unfair, so he became even more skilled at killing and robbing since he had nothing to lose.

Chris stayed mostly in the Gold Delta during those low years. He had no desire for money and did not want to take big risks anymore. He just did odd jobs and used his connections to survive.
