Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 393

As Cynthia took the file from Dominic, her fingertips brushed against his warm palm, sending a faint, unexpected warmth through her.

Dominic’s cool eyes flickered over her fingers before he quickly looked away.

Pushing down the subtle emotion, Cynthia lowered her head and began to read. The further she got, the tighter her brow furrowed. No wonder Benedict had been deliberately delaying the collaboration with Mr. Fletcher; he was trying to secure a larger profit margin for his partner.

The kickback contract she was holding was dated three years ago. For three years, he had been taking money from this company, inflating VistaSphere Group's operational costs all along. As the highest-ranking executive of the company, how could he do something so shameless?

Her hand tightened around the contract. “I’ve been so blind for the past seven years,” she finally managed to choke out.

Dominic slowly rose to his feet, looking down at her. A hint of satisfaction colored his deep voice. “At least you figured it out. You’re not completely blind.”

Cynthia felt a sting of annoyance. She looked up at him and muttered, “You’re a real comfort, Mr. Holloway. Please don’t try again.”

Dominic just raised an eyebrow and bent down, starting to pick up the scattered books and return them to the shelves. Seeing this, Cynthia placed the incriminating contract on the desk and joined him in tidying up.

He handled the books with gentle care, placing them back in their original spots with a reverence that suggested he cherished them. Cynthia remembered Mr. Robinson explicitly asking for the books when he bought the house, and she couldn't help but ask, “Do you like these books too?”
